Tampons
What do Americans have against against non-applicator tampons? I get that they're not for everyone but I thought the US was all about choice!
I brought tons with me when I moved 3 years ago, but now I'm out, and of course in urgent need and none of my local stores have them. I know Target does have them but I really didn't want to hike all the way out there

Well, I can't speak for all Americans, but I find them icky and messy and hard to get all the way up into the right position. I have tried them here and there and they're just not for me.
As far as where to get them, I think I've seen them at Walgreens and CVS. The OB brand.
I've seen OB in drugstores.
I actually prefer non-applicator tampons. It's messy with or without the applicator, IMO. I prefer not to mess with it.
But then I'm weird since I'm also a fan of the Diva Cup.

Me too, with the Diva cup. But when I do use tampons I use OB. And you can find them almost anywhere there are other tampons in my experience? The drugstore, Target, Walmart, any kind of shop with these types of goods! They might not be the general favorite, but they are widely available.

Half of my period is very heavy flow. Even with an applicator it's messy. I did try the non-applicator tampons a few times. We'll stop the description there.
And I've always seen them at grocery stores, drug stores, and mini-markets in the States. (not here because the locals don't really do tampons) Even had some stashed in little emergency spots. They may not be my favorite but they are fabulous for hiding.
OB is very easy to find in the US, I remember seeing them in my small-town drugstore.
I've started using the non applicator ones since living here and honestly I like them more (but I have lighter periods now, thanks to birth control pills). They're easier to get in, less mess, less container. I used to be grossed out by them in the US, but now I even buy OB when I'm at home.
I always liked that OB is small and easily concealed. I end up stuffing them in so many random purse and backpack pockets.

I don't prefer non-applicator tampons, but DO adore my mooncup. It rocks my socks. So I guess that makes me weird too.
I'm constantly telling girl friends about it.
More to the point, I think you can get OB non-applicator tampons in most stores in the US.
I just was in a 'rush' yesterday morning and our 3 stores close to home didn't have OB. I was surprised because I've seen them most places. These were small non chain places and I did find them elsewhere!
I just fine it interesting that all of the major brands (tampex, kotex, etc) sell both types at home, so I have a choice!
