WOOHOO! I met a really chatty Filipino woman over the weekend who lives in the building behind mine. She said her husband is French, so I mentioned something about wanting to enroll at Alliance Fran?aise. As soon as I said that she started telling me everything I needed to do to register, where I needed to go, and that I needed to do it soon because the next round of classes start week after next. It turns out that she's enrolled there too and is about my same level in French.
Before we were finished talking she had offered to take me to the AF offices to register because she had to go herself and invited me to a standing Friday French language coffee morning at the coffee shop across the street. Apparently two native speakers and three spouses of French men meet every Friday morning for coffee and conversation.
It looks like I might be able to keep up with my French here after all!
Re: I've made inways with the French speaking expats
Woohoo!
How's meeting people going? Have you met any other people interesting?
That's fantastic, Publius! How lucky
I've been looking at starting up French classes again...there's a significant shortage of actual classes in Cocoa Beach, shockingly enough... maybe I'll find something in Orlando.
Have fun with the Friday morning coffee! That sounds great!
So jealous you live in Cocoa Beach!! We had a condo at "Xanadu" when I was growing up, I miss my summers there.
It's going slowly but surely. The wives of the guys H works with are a huge help. They've been inviting me to their golf mornings, lunches, etc., and introducing me around. Since spouses don't get work permits here there are a lot of people in the same position I am.
