Ghost Whisperer

How is this series?  I caught an episode the other day when my DD was sick and I had to hold her while she slept for a couple hours (!!).  It was a good episode and I saw it is on Netflix.

Just wondering if it gets too repetitive.  Also Jennifer Love Hewitt almost always had the same 'troubled' or 'pained' expressions on her face, not sure if that same sort of vibe would start to get annoying.  And is it one of those series where they get so completely far-fetched each season to try to keep your attention?   Ghosts are ok, but if they start getting into demon/monster type stuff I don't think I'd be interested.  I caught a piece of another episode where the guy's eyes were glowing yellow and then Hewitt saw a baby with glowing eyes - made me think they were going a little over the top for me.

Re: Ghost Whisperer

  • We liked it... a couple of them were far fetched. You need to watch it from the beginging.... if you watch every season... one of them starts getting "strange" but if you stick with it you will understand what they are doing. Great show we were sorry to see it go.

  • Used to be total guilty pleasure television for me. I would cry a little at the end of almost every episode, if that's not sharing too much, lol. I liked how most episodes were individual stories, but they also had a long thread of a story moving through the season to tie it all together.

Some of the episodes get a little far-fetched, but it mostly just sticks to ghosts. (Not like True Blood for example)  I thought it was a series worth watching.

  • JLH is a terrible actress, but this show is totally a guilty pleasure. I enjoy reruns on WE.
  • I never watched from start to finish, only reruns on SyFy. I really like it though. It doesn't get super repetitive and, like pp said, a few episodes have been a little out there. However, for a show about ghosts, it's pretty grounded.

  • i'm pretty sure that through first and re-runs, i've watched every episode of GW.  It is a guilty pleasure.  JLH cries in just about every episode, but her husband, Jim, is H.O.T.  yes, the story lines get a little ridiculous at times, but i enjoyed it all the same.

  • I just started watching this on Netflix recently and I'm enjoying it so far. I'd repeat the same things everyone else already said, but there's no point in doing that. :) I'm also liking Jay Mohr in the series, too.
