where to buy furniture?

I have gone to homemakers, slumberland, american, redekers, ethan allen, and found nothing I love. Anyone have anyother recommendations. We are just looking for some casual living room furniture.

Re: where to buy furniture?

  • We got our dining room table, chairs, matching hutch; and the kitchen table and chairs at American.  They have sofas and such too.  There's a place in Boone, Redekers, I think that had some great stuff.  Not sure where else we went.

  • If you've tried all those places and found nothing you like, maybe you could consider a custom place like Artis or By Design. You'll pay more but they'll work with you on what you're envisioning.

  • Have you looked at Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel?  I know there isn't a C&B in Des Moines, I'm not sure if shipping would be outrageous or not.  There's also Restoration Hardware and Room and Board, if you don't mind going that route!

  • There's a Nebraska Furniture Mart in Clive that I hear great things about, they might have something.

They dont have furniture at that location! ...Go Figure!

  • Also, have you tried JCPenney Home Store? They have a smaller selection, but a lot of it is nice.

  • Boat's Home Furnishings in Pella might be another option...
  • We just ordered a sofa through By Design and honestly it was comparable in price to Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel.  We were able to pick out the welting, cushions, fabric, etc to exactly what we wanted.  I know Designing Women offers the same options as well.  If you feel you've exhausted all options (like we did) then it is worth a shot.  They have more than what is on the showroom floor too.
