Question for those who get Flu shots or any medical professionals

I got a Flu shot for the first time last year. I didn't have any reactions or symptoms after and I did not catch the Flu. My employer is offering free Flu shots again this year and I want to get it again. My concern is they are offering the shot a week before I go on vacation. Would you wait until you're back from vacation or is it safe to assume that since I didn't have any issues last year I should be okay?

    I would probably assume that since you were fine last year that you'd be fine this year.  That's how it's worked for me at least.

    Even though you were fine last year, I wouldn't take the chance.  I would hate to be sick on vacation!

    I was thinking the same thing. Being sick on vacation SUCKS. I wouldn't risk it.

    I'm leaning towards waiting until I'm back from vacation. I won't be able to get It at work by that point but there are plenty of places that offer the vaccine. Thanks for the input!

    Unless it's intranasal, I'm 99% certain you can't get the flu from the flu shot -- it's just a protein, not a live or even killed virus. I believe there is some small risk with the intranasal spray, because it is killed virus, and there is always some miniscule-but-possible chance there were a couple of resilient buggers who survived. If your work is offering it for free, I would takl to the people in your employee health about your concerns. They would be able to give you an educated answer.
