Ugh. I don't think we did, but it's frustrating! 6k in electric (4500 was covered by the sellers), then all the BS with the hurricane, and now the heat won't turn on and it worked during the walkthrough.
People who own homes - is there anything we're missing? We have gas heat and a gas stove, but we have hot water and the stove works. DH says there are two giant red knobs that are stuck, and National Grid says it's most likely a problem with the furnace.

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

Re: Did we buy a money pit?
he wants to know does the fan kick on when you turn the furnace on?
Our a/c and stove both worked during our walkthrough but the a/c wouldn't turn on the day we closed and the one burner on the stove was rotted out. They paid for most of the a/c but we were on our own for a new fridge.
Luckily so far that's the only issues we've had so far since moving in June 2010.
No idea about the heat- but I totally understand your frustration!!
Since November 2010:
new windows (factored into our offer)
some cosmetic changes (no big deal)
broke both toilets (an hour before our housewarming party... both still usable... oops!)
and then the tornado... new outside of my car, new roof on house & garage, new fence, etc.
I kept my cool about everything until this one day... And then this one day. within 7 days the following things happened: "I think we are living in a combo of amityville horror and the money pit. seriously- broken dishwasher, broken sink/drain after dishwasher was fixed, the fence guy hitting the gas line, i locked myself out and had to break in, and today we had an unbelievable amount of flies swarming at all of our windows."
Since then, things have been fine!! Now I think anything in the future will be no big deal b/c we went through so much this summer
