sewing girls

I am making Evie's halloween costume

http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/m6416-products-14679.php?page_id=915&search_control=display&list=search

So I am between size 1/2 and size 1 (size chart here http://mccallpattern.mccall.com/toddlers--pages-584.php  )

Does anyone know how the 1/2 measures up to regular clothing sizes (12M?) Or is size 1 12M?

The approximate hight thing is confusing me. At her last dr visit she was 29.5. But she is a thin girl and is 18.5 chest and 19 waist .

Would hate to make something that ends up being huge or too small.

Re: sewing girls

  • NO advice, but I love that costume!  Maybe the craft board might know too.

  • Given the measurements you listed, I would make the size 1 pattern.  It probably won't be way too huge, maybe a little loose.  It's definitely better to make the larger pattern and take in as necessary, but if you plan to layer clothing underneath I don't think 1 inch additional fabric in circumference would be a huge issue. The costume's look isn't dependent on being form fitting, so I think you'll be fine.

You can always call McCall's directly if you're still unsure-- most of the pattern makers are really great about answering questions.

Good luck and post pics when you're done!
