what razor do you use?

i've used intuition for several years, but i'm a little tired of paying $10+ for 3 blades. which one do you use, and is it any cheaper to get the blades?

Re: what razor do you use?

  • I'm still working on my crap load of free disposables from coupons :-)

  • Venus disposables.
  • I used the Venus (3 blade) for a long time, but felt I wasn't getting a close enough shave.  I switched to Venus Embrace? (5 blade) and really liked the smoothness, but the moisture strip fell off in the middle of the 3rd shave, so I was a little disappointed in the longevity of the blades (esp. for the cost).  I still used it a few times after that, but it wasn't as comfortable.  Not sure if I will continue to get refills, or just go back to the 3 blade.  I don't think I could go back to disposables - they just don't seem to give me a close enough shave and tend to give me razor burn.

I am now doing laser hair removal on my legs, so I am hoping not to have to worry about it (as much) soon!

You can do this while you are pregnant?  I've been putting this off because I didn't want to have to stop doing treatments if I did get pregnant.

I also use the Venus with the strips.  I usually buy the refills at Sams when I see them.

The place did want a "doctor's note" just for their files.  My doc was fine with it since I was doing leg only - so she gave me one, no problem. (check with your OB - some might be more conservative).  I think they just want you to avoid lasering any bikini areas during pregnancy. (underarms would probably be ok)

The only downside is that you can't use the topical numbing cream while pregnant.  I don't know how much it helps, though - I think it still hurts like a B either way!  lol.

I've been using the Venus Embrace and never had that happen.   Hmmm...

In general, I really don't think there is a blade out there that meets my expectations!  lol    They all seem to get dull after only a few shaves.

  • Have tried many razors and have found the Shick Quattro to give me the smoothest, most consistent results w/o nicks. The blade can be spendy but they seem to last forever.

This! I have a ton that I got free with coupons so I switch them up all the time.

I have sensitive skin and this razor works GREAT!

  • I also use Venus and haven't had any issues. I just can't stomach the idea of throwing a whole disposable razor away every time I need a new blade. Think of the trash that creates over a life time!

I got laser on my face and under arms and it worked really well, so I think I will probably go for the legs next year.

I actually use this one (LOVE IT) and get it super cheap from CVS and stock up with coups... I have like 4 or 5 in my linen closet... LOL.

I have heard good things about the schick quattro though the refills can get expensive.. so really IDK.

  • i also cannot handle the thought of throwing away a whole disposable razor every time i shave.  the only tim e i buy those is if i'm on a trip and i've forgotten to pack a razor!

i have one venus handle, and one gilette quatro (the dark pink one?) handle.  i use them interchangeably, but seem ot use the gilette one more frequently.

i don't think the moisture strip on the razor blade does anything.  i use a scrub, and then a good thick oily shaving cream and it really seems to depend on the shaving cream more.

i shave maybe once a week.  i know it's horrible, but i have blonde leg hair and i really hate shaving in the shower (we have a shower stall), so i have to have time to take a bath.
