Anyone want to chat? Watching the Emmys.

Kinda craving a glass of wine, so I'm indulging in birthday cake (angel food cake with a pineapple/pudding/fresh fruit topping) and preacher cookies instead.

I had A LOT of work to do for the week today, which I thought I'd have the whole day to do.  We did lunch after church with friends, then I had from 2-whenever to work.

Turns out that my SIL and niece and nephew spent the WHOLE AFTERNOON in my living room while MIL, FIL and DH did some stuff on the deck.  No one told me they were coming, and I basically turned into a babysitter while SIL made birthday cake.  Not that I don't appreciate the cake (yum) but I was sick with a cold all week and saved 6 hours of work for today because I thought I'd have the time.  Not so much.  They just left.

So, I'm irritated and already behind before the week even begins... so someone have a glass of wine for me and tell me your thoughts on the Emmys so far!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!GiftCake (and extra Cake for the baby :) )

I am watching the Emmys too.  I had a rough day and still have a ton to do (lunches, etc) but Jane and Jim are both already in bed and I am kind of just enjoying the SILENCE and the couch.

I love Modern Family so happy to see it win and I thought what Amy Pohler started w/ the nominated women was really funny.

I loved this!  And the woman from Mike and Molly grew up two towns over from me in a very very small town, so that was cool to see.

Charlie Sheen made a desperate attempt to be thoughtful/sincere but it seemed weird.

Sometimes I like dresses but I have no idea who the women are!!  Ha.

  • First things first, happy birthday!!

I just turned on the Emmys but I'm thrilled to hear Modern Family won.. it's one of my all time favorite shows.

I had a craptastic day today too. I got this idea in my head that I could rearrange the furniture in my oddly-shaped bedroom only spend 3 hours figuring out what I already knew-- the room is so oddly shaped that there's exactly one way my furniture won't look really misplaced, which was the way I've always had it to begin with.   Sigh.

And DH had a case of the Crabapple McNasties today for whatever reason, which didn't help.

I hear you.  Our house is so small that really every room can be done like one way (unless we resort to doll furniture :) )

Sorry your DH was being a cranky butt today.  I was trying not to be too hard on mine today even though he worked all day yesterday and then ran all morning (which starts like 2 hours pre-run with eating, drinking, stretching, prep, blah!) so it's  a whole ordeal.  Anyway, I was trying not to be too hard on him b/c I am gone ALL next weekend for a girl's weekend with my sisters and my Mom and he'll have no break b/c his Mommy is away so it's all him and Ms. Janie all weekend!

  • I'm popping in and out, not watching the emmy's. DH is still watching some football. I am really anxious about tomorrow. We close at 1pm. I think it will be really awkward, I hate using family for things like this. Dh's uncle is pissed we didn't use a mortgage company he recommended and in his words "went out on our own" causing him to have to provide more documentation to the underwriters. He is not happy with our loan people, I just hope he keeps it professional. Let the home repairs begin!!

  • Naylon, I totally related to your post.  My DH has season college football tickets and this year, the first five games are ALL home games.  So every Saturday I'm on all day baby duty while he just goes off and drinks, plays games, eats, has fun.  And yeah, I've had to swallow a big pill full 'o bitter about it.

The good news is that this means I can go on a girls' weekend at some point without question.

  • Star- Girls weekend to Kazoo??? I will soon have a place for everyone to crash! We have a really fun group of bars downtown! With KK and Jessica?

Naylon- I feel your pain about the marathon training schedule. Kevin spends tons of time running when he is training, currently he is on the eating chips and watching football plan Big Smile Lucky for us at this time we don't have to worry about the kid wrangling..

Cassidy- HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope the cake makes the missing grading time a little better. Your little bump is just too cute, wish i had the abs you have 3 months pregnant!

Aww, that would be great!  Although there's the possibility I might be expecting by the time you are settled, but I'm always glad to be the DD! :)

  • True but we could do other things too. Probably by the time we are settled I-94 will be horrible to drive in the snow! I hope we all can GTG soon, maybe before KK has her little boy.

  • Boo for your stressful day :( Your announcement was really cute on FB though! Hope you can redeem the last bit of your birthday.

I just tuned into the Emmys and saw the Game of Thrones guy win. DH seemed pretty happy about that.

I'm currently downing a million ww cookies and have totally taken the ww out of the cookies by doing so.

    Happiest place on Earth!

  • Thanks for the birthday wishes!  It was fun to read all the comments on Facebook.  I'm cranky because of my afternoon, so they all brightened my day, as did this post.  Thanks girls!
