UK Mamas - Maternity clothes?
Hi all,
I am very sure this has been asked before, but I had an amazing ability to just ignore all the baby posts until they were relevent! So... where can I find maternity clothes? I'm thinking of buying a couple shirts for India since I would want loose clothing for that trip anyway. And seriously, although I've only gained 2 lbs, I am very awkward in most of my clothing already, it just doesn't fit right!
I've scanned Dorothy Perkins and New Look already but any other thoughts? What stores have maternity sections where I can actually try on things? I was hoping to buy everything used on ebay or wherever, but my shape is already so different so I think I have to try things on if at all possible!
Thanks!

Re: UK Mamas - Maternity clothes?
No clue about UK maternity clothes...
I just wanted to add that I bet that a lot of your clothes will start fitting again in a few weeks. I was really puffy from maybe weeks 8-11 and all of my clothes were super uncomfortable. Compounding that problem was the fact that anything tight around my middle made my morning sickness way worse. Around the time that the morning sickness went away, the puffy suddenly subsided and things started to fit again. Just this morning I tried on all three pairs of my regular (super low rise) jeans and they all fit. They would not have fit during weeks 8-11.
An unrelated question: Did you give consideration to what you will do about malaria medicine while you're in Inida? I ended up talking to two travel medicine specialists and my ob/gyn before I was able to make a decision on it that I was comfortable with.

Hiya!
Yeah, I'm just super puffy but I figured I might as well make sure I'll be super comfy. I'm going the 'super baggy top' route for India anyway so it just makes sense to start looking at maternity. I'm really hoping this stage passes soon, I'm so tired of feeling this terrible all the time.
Well... as far as I understand, there isn't really a good option for malaria (I am super curious what you decided to do if you don't mind my asking). We're going the preventative route. Apparently we're travelling in the low season for it and we aren't in areas where it's very prevelent. I'll be wearing Deet (as much as I hate the idea of doing that during pregnancy - or otherwise honestly - it is apparently worth it for the 11 days) and we are going to minimise our outdoor time after dark. We plan on just mostly eating at our hotels. We got a mosquito net and a mosquito plug-in thing. We talked to my GP, a travel clinic, my FIL (a doctor) and random other people but I'm super curious to hear what you decided, I still don't really like our plan entirely.

I decided not to take any anti-malarial medicines. I wear kid-safe non-deet bug spray if I know that I am going to be somewhere that is likely to have mosquitoes or if I know that I will be outside a substantial amount after dark.
I don't need a mosquito net in my apartment, but I think it is a good idea to bring one for hotels in case they are not air conditioned or well-seeled.

I am. BUT my H is the ultimate mosquito magnet. We can be sitting next to each other and he will be getting eaten alive while wearing 100% deet while I won't get a single bite.

I also think it's too early for you to start wearing maternity clothes. Buy a few inexpensive things one size up, like Mouse said, since you'll be able to use those afterwards again also. another good thing to buy is a BellaBand, or Belly Band. That will hold up your pants and you can wer them unzipped. I can tell you that I'm pretty big already, and a lot of maternity clothes still don't fit me.
But to add to Blushing's list - I recently discovered Asos' maternity section and like it. Also, slight more expensive is Isabella Oliver and Boden.

I agree. I live in the US but actually bought a lot of my maternity stuff from Next and it lasted through both pg.
