I need to redo the shelving in our linen closet which is totally jacked up DIY from a previous owner. Wooden shelves that are different widths and door framing for shelf rails. Bad.
What I want is the white coated wire type shelves but I don't even know where to begin looking. Is this something I can DIY for cheap? I know Elfa is out there, but I don't even want to waste my time looking at it if it's going to be like $700 for the darn thing.
ETA: this is a pretty small space. I'd say max 2' deep and 3' wide.
Re: Closet organizers?
I'd go with HD or Lowe's. They have it a la carte, or packaged for a closet. I'd say it's low-medium on the DIY difficulty scale. You may need to cut the shelves, which can increase the difficulty.)
Elfa is only needed when the off the shelf stuff doesn't fit your size.
Ditto Lowes and Home Depot for their shelving sections. There's also Ikea but I don't know if their shelving works for non-standard Ikea sizing stuff or if it can be adjusted at all.
Finally - Elfa is stupid expensive, but for what you're describing, I think you could get away without spending a huge amount of money (though it'll be much more than the above ideas so maybe do this as a last resort?).
I know that Home Depot sells something exactly like this. Otherwise check Lowes
I think the Container Store does closets as well, you might be able to find them there also,.
