Anyone go to the new Wegmans yesterday?

I so so wanted to, but after my sister's baby shower yesterday, I was exhausted and crashed early.

Once I get my meal plan ready for next week, I'm so there!

What did everyone think?

Re: Anyone go to the new Wegmans yesterday?

  • I saw online last night that several nesties went (via FB). DH and I did a drive by and decide it was best that we wait a few weeks for things to calm down. My neighbor went and she said it was mad house, you couldn't even look for items etc, just way too many people. The parking lot was completely filled when we drove by, plus cops were out front directing traffic. We stuck to Giant yesterday and I will say I got some awesome deals over there.

  • I went for fun!

It was awesome.  It definitely was busy, no doubt, but IMO still somewhat "organized" chaos.  Everyone was nice (even customers who were trying to shop), no lines overall at the check out stands.  Prices were great from what I could see.  I've never been to Wegman's beyond the bathrooms in Hunt Valley at the Komen Walk.

A friend says you can't beat the prices for your "staple" items.  I look forward to actually doing some shopping rather than just browsing and picking up a few items just because I saw them.  I anticipate it being a madhouse all the time unless you go at 6am or later in the evening.

  • I went! It was organized chaos as PP mentioned. I didn't get to really check it out since it was so so so crowded. Overall, it is A LOT different from Wegmans HV, where I normally shop, so I am not sure how I feel about that. I was hoping for some continuity. As weird is this sounds I was somewhat dissappointed with some of their aesthetic choices throughout, it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I super love Wegmans though, and am SOOOO happy to have one that is less than 10 miles from my house. It will make my life a million times easier. The store seems a lot bigger than HV, don't know if it is, or if it's just the layout. I can't wait to go back when it's not quite as busy.
  • Whoa.  Did the Wegman's in Waugh Chapel open?

I grew up in Central NY so Wegman's is like a long lost lover to me...........I hope it's as good as the ones in NY.

  • We went!  It was definitely nuts, but it was fun.  The employees were super nice (one in particular went out of her way to get Aiden a balloon).  It was way too crowded to really check things out, but we hope to go back again.  I'm really hoping the crowds calm down.

They are building it now, but it's not scheduled to open until 2012.
