DH just asked me what I want for Christmas. I cannot think of ANYTHING I want or need right now. It's not that I'm spoiled or anything, I'm just content with what I have. The one thing I have been dreaming of for a while is an embroidery machine because we plan on having little ones in the coming years and I think it would be nice for baby stuff and gifts. My question is what do I look for with an embroidery machine (I know I would like one that I can hook up to the computer to create the images) and how much would a "good" one cost? I am not looking for anything professional but something that would do nice work when I need it. If it is too much for a good one I'll just think of something else!
TIA!
ETA- I was looking at the Brother SE400... it looks like it is reasonably priced.
Re: embroidery machine advice...
Someone posted last week about this - I replied in the thread about my machine - see:

I have a brother inovis 1250D. It's a sewing/embroidery machine and I love it. I think we paid about $1800 for it though so it's definitely more than just a basic one. It's more mid level and has the sewing machine part too.
I can transfer designs with a flash drive and really really love that because I buy a lot of applique designs from etsy. Ok, fine - I just started buying them but still it makes it so much easier to transfer them!
