If you were going to create a time capsule for future generations, what would you put in it?
Re: QOTD - Monday
we did this for DS's 1st b-day, I did a lot of research online and had family members write letters to his 18 y.o. self (that's when he'll open it), DD and other kids drew pictures. We included some baby things, like his 1st baby spoon; the GO THE F* TO SLEEP book, a cell phone (I am sure he'll laugh at what we used), an expired credit card, DH put in a copy of Maxim (you can do playboy or playgirl). One thing not to include is newspaper cutouts b/c all of that is available online or certain woods/materials which can give off harmful gases.
We are not burying it b/c we don't know where we'll live in 17 yrs but I will hide it until he's 18 y.o.
@sofka: love that you included "go the f*ck to sleep" in your time capsule!
i'd probably include:
walkman and a mix tape (archaic already, i know!)
an earlier incarnation of the ipod
a cell phone
a laptop or some computer accessories that will seem clunky and laughable 20+ years from now
photos of fashion from the 90s (when i was growing up) and present day
apartment or car keys
my broken SLR and film (i'd still be using that camera if it hadn't broken)
one of my digital cameras
a polaroid
a favorite book
Good question.
No clue. lol
Maybe the headlines from a major newspaper? An ipod or ipad? Loose change (no clue why, but we did one in elementary school and we put loose change in there), oh! maybe a coke or pepsi can - those designs are always changing so it might be cool to see what they looked like...
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
I would probably put a few major headlines form the news paper to show that we actually still read the newspaper.
A family tree so they can see who was related to who and this way they can continue the "tree".
Probably a receipe book of some receips that have been passed down to me and maybe would get lost in translation so to speak.
A lot of photo's - wedding photo's for sure, pictures of other family members at the holidays for example.
Good Question of the day!!
