Anyone have a good beef stew recipe?

We're going on our last camping trip in October, and I'm making dinner one of the nights (we're going with another couple). I figure it'll be chilly, and would love to make a stew or soup. I'm planning on making my loaded baked potato soup, but I thought beef stew would be another good option.

Anyone have a recipe they've done and enjoyed?

Re: Anyone have a good beef stew recipe?

  • I have one for sweet and sour beef stew, it's a little different than your traditional beef stew but very good.  It's at home but I can email it to you later if you would like it.

  • I have a pretty amazing one.

But it's in a recipe box at home.  It might be Betty Crocker from a million years ago that my mom made as long as I can remember.

    I'll keep you posted.

  • I have a really good and simple beef stew recipe at home. It's my mom's recipe and the only beef stew that I have made and actually liked. Nothing compares to it. Let me know if you'd like to see it.

  • Hungarian beef and cabbage soup

    2lbs shredded cabbage

    2 cups shredded red cabbage

    10 oz chopped spinach, thawed

    1 cup shredded carrots

    1 lb ground beef, browned

    32 oz ground tomatoes

    8 oz brown sugar

Combine everything in a stew pot, add enough water to cover everything. Cook on high for 20 min, reduce heat to medium and add: 1/4 cup lemon juice, 1/4 cup hot sauce, 3 or 4 bouillon cubes, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1tsp italian seasoning, and 1/4 cup diced onion.

Simmer on medium until cabbage is done, about an hour.

It's soooo good and if you want you could sprinkle cheddar cheese on top when you serve it.

  • I know you said you were looking for beef stew...however, I know when camping and it's chilly/rainy there is nothing better than chicken corn soup made over an open fire.

     And it's simple to make.
