Ladies who knit/crochet...
I've been considering making a throw for our apartment. I only crochet, and I've already found a pattern I want to use. Only problem...the yarn! Where do you all purchase yarn? Online? What is your favorite to use? I'm in love with a few of the Debbie Bliss Andes yarns, but there's no way I can afford that for an entire throw...but maybe a scarf! Thoughts??

Re: Ladies who knit/crochet...
I crochet and only do baby items for the local art souk so they're small so I'm not using tons of yarn. I get what I can locally but the selection is small and somewhat pricey. Whenever I visit the States my suitcase is packed with yarn.
Does your country have Shop and Ship by Aramex? I signed up a few months ago (one time fee) and then you get addresses in NY, the UK, and China that you can ship to and they'll forward it and charge per half kilo.
Right now Joann has 30% off of yarn and 99 cent shipping so I just placed an order today.
Yeah, I usually buy stuff at home (Michael's and Joanns) just because I don't do enough projects to merit much more than that.
Are you going to do that pinwheel pattern you put on pinterest? Definitely put up pictures as it comes along.
I'm definitely thinking I'm either going to do the hexagonal grey one I just pinned, or one of the pinwheel patterns. Not sure yet! Probably both, but we'll see which one I do first. I'll definitely be posting pictures!
Darling, if you hate to sound rude, then you should probably stop talking. The reason why I ask the ladies on this board is because I know them, and I know of two (who have previously answered) that are heavy into knitting. Not that you've been here that long, or else you would have known this, but I work from home here in the NL and don't really get a chance to just stroll along the town stores. We have one store here in the city center that sells yarn and knitting supplies...and their stock is woefully small. But, the next time you're in Eindhoven, you should stop by and see for yourself before making gross assumptions.
If you "hate to sound rude," don't be rude. Perhaps you could have taken the time to think of a better way to word your suggestion. Like "Have you asked any of the ladies in your town? I bet they might be able to point you in the right direction, especially since the Netherlands has some of the best yarn."
...but you do.
But you sound rude or "whatever". What's your problem?
