Model homes/new neighborhoods w/ great floorplans?
DH and I are on the 2-3 yr plan for building a new house (although I must admit the super low rates right now make it tempting to speed that up a bit!!) I am a huge planner, and would like to slowly start looking a floorplans so that we will have one chosen by the time we are ready to actually build. We have found a neighborhood we love, but no floorplans that are perfect for us. We would like to go to some open houses/model homes in the DM area to get ideas. Does anyone have any suggestions of areas in WDM/Urbandale/Clive/Waukee/Ankeny, etc... that have model homes with really nice floorplans? We are probably looking in the 2000-2200 sq ft range, so not after a home show type area, or a super small starter home area... kind of a mid-range area. Thank you!

Building a home gives you the ability to custom plan your space. I spent 3 months designing my floor plan so that it was the perfect layout for us.
I'm using Accurate Development. We went through all of their homes - it gave us the knowledge of their superior quality and style. We certainly could have chosen one of their layouts that they have used before but we wanted something different.
I don't know if that helps you - but if you are building - you don't have to go with a standard floor plan - that's the point of building. Otherwise, you could get a great deal on existing homes but with building homes - the deals are less.
