where to donate toiletries?

I have a box full of travel size and some full size shampoos, conditioners, body washes and lotions from all of our traveling....I have a habit of taking the nicer ones from hotels. Embarrassed We're never going to use them, so I'd like to donate to a women's or children's center, Ronald McDonald house or similar children's hospital related.  Anyone know places that take things like this?

Re: where to donate toiletries?

  • We donate our coupon surplus items (basically anything I can get for free) to

Houston Area Women's Shelter (and Children)
    1010 Waugh Drive
    Houston, Tx 77019

They love lotions, soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste, deoderant, razors, diaper cream, diapers, wipes, shampoo, conditioner... basically any toiletry.  They also take hair color and clothing.

  • I used to work for a Big 4 accounting firm so I traveled almost non-stop. We would always collect the toiletries and donate to the Ronald McDonald House. I think you can look up online where to drop them off for RMH, we always just had someone drive over there and donate every few months.
  • Thanks ladies, I love both of those organizations so I'll donate to them.
  • Heights Interfaith Ministries food pantry will also take them. They distribute toiletries with food packages to needy families. If people can't afford to eat, they certainly can't afford shampoo... The pantry itself has limited hours but there are drop boxes at both St Mark's on Pecore and Zion Lutheran on Beauchamp.

  • Groups that put together military care packages also usually appreciate this stuff! They seem to always be collecting for one military group or another at my church. Just another thought. :)
