If you've made a disappearing 9 patch quilt...
What kind of quilting did you do to finish it? I'm following the tutorial on Obsessively Stitching's first quilt ever. She free motion quilts it, and gives instructions on how to do that, but I'm not sure I love the look of it. Has anyone done a different type of quilting that looks good for that type of quilt? This is the first quilt I've ever made, so I'm having a hard time deciding what to do. Thanks!

Re: If you've made a disappearing 9 patch quilt...
That sounds easy enough, but I'm not sure if it would work with the way my squares are laid out. Looks like yours is an I Spy quilt? My big squares aren't all in rows, so the seams don't line up quite like that. I would end up stitching through the middle of the big squares, which I was going to try and avoid, but I'm not sure if there will be a way to do that.
This isn't mine, but it's how the squares are laid out.
How much bigger than 6in are your squares? If they're less than 8in, I might go ahead and do it anyway.
The squares are 8 inches, think it would work to just stitch down the rows and columns?
ETA: I could stitch down both sides of the seams, 1/4" on either side, so there would really only be 7.5" between lines, right?
I actually think diagonally would be better...you can line it up to hit in the corners. and if you pick a thread that changes, it might actually look like it is part of it... just a thought
yes...it was an I spy...
