vacation ideas

I didn't want this to get lost in the virtual GTG, but I'm planning a vacay for May/June for DH and I and a bunch of our friends (8-12 ppl). We want to keep it relatively inexpensive because we're all on tight budgets, but does anyone have any great tropical locations or websites to get good deals from?

Re: vacation ideas

  • Are y'all thinking of flying? Do you want to go to the Caribbean? I really like the Outer Banks in NC. Other than that, I know sometimes you can great deals on a last minute cruise. Maybe try cruise.com?

  • I like Travelzoo.com... every Wed they come out with a top 20. I haven't booked one yet, but they are soooo tempting! They also have other great deals but list the "best" ones on Weds.

  • We'll probably fly because the group is from OH, MD, FL, GA, and WV. We were thinking caribbean, but two of the people get really seasick, so I don't know if we'll do cruises...

I look at Living Social escapes all the time and groupon getaways, but I'm afraid with a lot of different people trying to get the deals we won't all be able to book at the same resort at the same time

  • I'm sayng ths from the perspectve that we drove from CT to Miami..

would it be possible for you guys to road trp somewhere? cruises could be extremely budget frendly when you cut out airfare.

  • Puerto Rico is fun to do with a group of people because you don't need a passport to go there. It's relaxing, you could sit on a beach all day or go to Old San Juan too.

I heard Dominican Republic is really inexpensive to go to now.

I also really like Puerto Rico. San Juan is beautiful. Although, I think flights might be a bit much.

  • Oh, and I definitely want an all-inclusive so that there are no surprise costs, etc.

  • I have no real input here except to say that my husband really loved San Juan, the one night he spent there.
