recipes-

Now that fall closing in on us anyone have any good yummy (easy) recipies they care to share!?!? I really havent done much cooking since we moved in and now that I am a SAHM I really want to start cooking more

  • Right now my grandma's meatball stew is cooking in our crock pot. It's a family fave, and easy to make. You can always change the amounts to make less, this fits in our large crock pot (its a big oval, I forget how much it holds). Also good with some italian or other crust bread for dipping in the sauce.

    3 cans tomato soup
    1 can tomato sauce
    3 lbs ground meat
    2 eggs
    3-4 large potatoes, diced
    4-5 large carrots, sliced

    To make meatballs: hand mix ground beef with 2 eggs. form into meatballs.

    The stew: First, mix the tomato soup, sauce & 1 can of water in the crock pot until the 3 are blended (i pour everything in and stir it for about 30 seconds until its all the same color and the water mixes in). Then toss in the meatballs, potatoes & carrots. cook for 6-8 hours, or until potatoes are soft & meatball are cooked through.  (sometimes if we are short on time my grandma would pre-cook the meatball in the oven so they don't take as long.) 

    Hope you enjoy! Sorry if it's not exact, we don't really have a recipe, it's more of "knowing" how to make it....but it is just as simple as it sounds, and quick!!

  • I just remembered a really easy one that is so yummy- and easy for like a get together or sunday football party

     Asiago Peppers dish

    1 Green Pepper
    1 Red Pepper
    1 Yellow Pepper
    1 Orange Pepper
    4 garlic cloves
    1 tsp pepper
    1 tsp garlic salt
    1 tbs basil
    1/4 cup oil
    Chunk of Asiago cheese cut into strips

    Clean and cut peppers into chunks. put into 9x13 glass dish, mince garlic and sprinkle over peppers, add pepper, garlic salt, basil and oil to the peppers cover with foil and back @ 350 for 40-55 min or until peppers are soft, remove foil place cheese on top and cook uncovered until cheese is melted

     

  • When I make Chili I don't use a recipe I just guess on everything. I usually use 2 lbs of ground beef. 1 green pepper (chopped to whatever size you like), 1 onion (chopped to whatever size you like), 1 package of Mushrooms, 1 can diced tomatoes (I think they're 16 or32 oz... not the size can of canned veggies, the next size up), 1 can crushed tomatoes. 1 pack of chili mix. If it's a little too soupy I'll add a little tomato paste.

    Here's a crock pot recipe for chicken tortilla soup that we LOVE and it's really easy.  I don't cook the chicken before-hand I just throw a few chicken breasts in at the beginning and shred when done.  I also add some diced jalapenos for some spice.

    I love allrecipes, you can save recipes to a "recipe box"  and also each recipe has a ton of reviews from people who have tried it.  Almost every recipe I've tried off of their website has been delicious.

    Ditto. I don't really use a recipe for chili, I just kinda add whatever I want. I usually do ground beef, kidney beans, green pepper, onion, diced tomatoes (regular and fire roasted for some extra kick) and a chili seasoning packet. That's about it - but you could really add whatever. I'm thinking about adding some corn next time I make it.

    and i guess i will throw in my husbands favorite chili recipe (which is AWESOMEEEE), but it will have to wait until i get home. clearly i need to upload all of my recipes online or something so i can have them handy.

    I made this coconut rice last night. The flavor is very mild, but it definitely makes the rice the right kind of sticky. I paired this with a Tikka Masala chicken and broccoli. I got Tikka Masala sauce from Target and it was super easy to make. DH loved it!
