Random Question

Since I haven't been around, hi!  I'm in PA and my officer physical is tomorrow...yay!

Does anyone know what county Norfolk is in?  One of my references for past residences just moved there so I had to change her info on my app and she doesn't know.  I tried Googling and failed.

TIA.

Re: Random Question

  • Norfolk, Virginia?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it isn't in a county.

  • My googling results are showing Norfolk County.

    Photo bomb, yeah!
  • I take back my previous statement. It used to be Norfolk County but now a county apparently doesn't exist. How odd? We have counties in Texas so I wasn't aware that some places didn't have counties. Hmm.. Hmm

  • It's not in a county, it's an independent city, which is considered the equivalent of a county.

I believe this is the correct answer.  A lot of the larger cities in that area (Newport News, VA Beach, etc) would be the same story.  When we lived in NN, we just put Newport News as our County if there was a blank we had to fill in with that.  Never had a problem.

  • This blew my mind. I thought everywhere in the US was in a county. Are parishes like counties? or small towns? I dont know how the south works...
