XP/PSA: Mortgage rates are pretty low today

I thought I was done with refi'ing for a while, but rates today are 4.0% on a conforming 30-year fixed or 3.75% on a 20-year with no closing costs (at least that's what I'm able to get through my broker).

Looks like I may do my third refi in five years.

  • I am praying they stay that way so our house will sell and we can buy.

My father refinanced through Sovereign last week. 15yr fixed at 2.5%!! He has amazing credit, but still.

Gah, sounds like I might have missed an even better deal!

He has been bragging about it to just about anyone who will listen. I would think you have a chance of them dropping even lower than 3.75, but who knows.

When my parents bought their first house, the rate was over 13%. Crazy, huh?

  • I am hoping that they are still low when we are ready to buy too.  We thought about re-financing and renting our house out and the quote we got was 3.3%.

image Yup, he was born that way. Doug's Blog
  • Hmm, now I'm wondering how I missed rates that were even lower and whether I should wait.

  • We are going to contact our mortgage person.  We just refinanced not that long ago, but it may be worth it to do it again.
