Question for moms

When did your child drop the second nap?

Re: Question for moms

  • I'm not a mom, but we're dropping E's second nap right now and he's turning 1 on Friday. The biggest reason for us is the second nap just got too hard for everyone. He was pissed cause he was tired, but crazy fighting it. We were pissed because we can't get him to sleep and then once we do it's an awful nap. We talked it over for a couple days and last week decided to go to one nap. Today is the first day he hasn't been whiny all day, but we knew there would be a transition period. Since we started one nap a day though he's sleeping through the night and not waking up till 730-8 which is a huge plus for everyone.

  • I would say probably around 9 or 10 months he dropped the second nap. His nap only nap would be after he ate lunch.

  • DD would probably still take two naps if we let her, but we had to drop to one nap since she's now in school in the morning until 12.  Unfortunately consolidating two decent length naps has not equaled one longer nap for us :(

  • Ok, that is why so many people are wondering why he takes multiple Naps a day. On weekdays, he takes a nap in the morning, afternoon nap and sleeps for about an hour on the way home from the sitters.

I say if it's not messing with his sleep at night then keep things the way they are :)
