Are you canceling Netflix?
We are because we sit on movies for weeks at a time and it's cheaper to rent movies from a redbox than pay for the dvd service. We are keeping streaming.[Poll]
Re: Are you canceling Netflix?
67/200
If Starz yanks their streaming content, I may cancel streaming as well.
We don't have cable so their rate increase wasn't a huge deal to us at all. I like that they added video games. We NEVER play our wii, we just stream. We might start playing now
I used to have the DVDs also, but mainly because I would use handbrake to rip them
.
I canceled it all together when we moved to Egypt since you have to have a US IP address to use streaming. When we moved back I restarted, but only streaming. I use it several times per week so we'll keep it.
They haven't done it yet, but they plan to release games for different systems on the DVD/Quikster (or however the eff you spell it) side of the business.
We're keeping both. We get 3 DVDs at a time and return them at least once a week. RedBox is out of the way and I'm okay paying a tad more to be lazy and have it delivered to my front yard. We use streaming quite a bit too.
ETA: From the email...
"One improvement we will make at launch is to add a video games upgrade option, similar to our upgrade option for Blu-Ray, for those who want to rent Wii, PS3, and xbox 360 games."
We were already going to cancel the DVDs when I got the first email. That just gave me the ambition to follow through. It didn't change what I was expecting my bill to be so I didn't care.
Did you see the new email they sent out today? Trying very hard to make it sound personal and be sweet with the customers, imho.
Cheese please!
We haven't decided yet. H said he was cancelling it as soon as the rate went up to $21. I haven't seen the new cycle yet, to even know what the total charge is. We'll wait until we've moved to decide...in case there's no redbox nearby and depending on what our cable options are.
Yep this is us to. And Blockbuster changed their fees so if you return within one day most movies are only like 2 bucks or less and we have one fairly close.
I just lowered my DVD plan to 1 instead of 2.
I don't like what they are doing...at all.
I read an article on Yahoo about their move and they compared it to Apple. Apple guided customers from the iPod to the iPhone. The write gave that as an example with Netflix but Netflix isn't guiding the users...they are forcing us.
They do on some systems. Our Blu-Ray doesn't offer it, but I know our Wii does and I think the Roku does as well.
ETA: Our Roku doesn't, but our Mac does. A PS3 will as well.
We stream through the 360 and I haven't had luck thus far with CC.
Hm, weird. We don't have a 360, but the site says it should work for titles that support it. I've used it on the Wii with, I think, Grey's Anatomy.
That sucks.
Just because of this conversation; I'm going to be playing with a bit tonight to make sure I'm just not being tech-stupid.
How expensive is that? Do they have it for other sports as well? I'm intrigued because the one thing we've missed (not terribly, though) with not having cable are live sporting events.
NFL Rewind. I'm not sure if they have it for other sports. My H says it's $40 for the whole season and then you can tack on $15 for the playoffs anytime if you want.
