s/o How were you punished?
What did your parents do when you acted out?
I got my phone and friend privileges taken away, which seemed horribly cruel at the time.
Re: s/o How were you punished?
When I was younger we were sent to our room when we were bad and occasionally when we did something really bad we got hit with my dad's belt. I can't really remember what I did to warrant that but it was only once.
In high school we were grounded, so not allowed to see friends, no tv/phone privleges. Once, I did have my bedroom door taken off the hinges for a week after I slammed the door during an arguement with my mom. Once I had a car, if I was late for curfew I had my car taken away (that happened only once as well).
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?

1) That is hilarious
2) You realize that we now need to know about this incident, yes?
ETA: My friend's brother was caught sending inappropriate texts to a co worker and his fiance made him call her mom and explain why they in fact would not be shopping for wedding dresses together the following weekend. Apparently this is a useful tactic in adulthood as well.
When I was little I remember getting time outs. The only time we EVER got anything physical, I remember being four or five and my sister and I were splashing too much in the bathtub and my mom tried to spank me. It was the lightest of light taps and then she started crying and hugging me and told me she was sorry. lol
Middle and high school, we had a lot of discussions and "being disappointed in me" was usually punishment enough. I think phone/computer were taken away a few times, but I can only remember two big punishments.
1. Hiding a "C" algebra test summer before freshman year when I was doing an honors/AP prep program over the summer. I had never gotten a C before and was scared shitless so I hid it and Mom and Dad of course found out. I had to write an apology letter to them and to the teacher for being dishonest, no TV the rest of the summer and I had to mow the lawn every Wednesday that summer with a push mower.. and we lived on two and a half acres.
2. Skipping chemistry (to set up the homecoming pep rally for student government that I was in charge of - deviant! lol). No phone/TV/friends for two months AND they almost made me drop out of ALL of my extracurricular activities including SG. That sh!t was rough even looking back as an adult.
Guilt worked really well for me. I would eat myself up.
That being said, I got plenty of spankings, phone taken away, no car, no friends, etc.
My sister had her mouth washed out once.
Yeah...I figured someone would call me out on that. It really wasn't that bad, I was just super embarrassed and after all these years of them not hearing the story I just can't bear to let it slip now.
We were gong on a family vacay to Savannah in third grade and I was really excited about it so I bragged about it to my friends. Well, the vacation sucked...we did nothing a third grader would find interesting. The only thing worth mentioning was that we sat on the bench from Forrest Gump. Well, that wasn't an exciting enough story for my third grade self so I spiced it up a little. I told my friends we had actually met Tom Hanks while visiting the bench.
Well...everyone was so excited that my teacher heard the story and so did my girl scout leader and I just let it keep going. A couple of days later my mom was waiting for me to come out of school and she ran into my teacher who proceeded to tell my mom how jealous she was since she was a huge Tom Hanks fan. Busted! I had to admit to all of my friends and my teacher and girl scout leader that I'd lied. I was mortified. I guess they thought that was punishment enough so they didn't have me make the usual punishment phone calls.
A couple of weeks later someone mentioned Forrest Gump around my grandparents and my dad got this devious look on his face. I begged him not to tell and he made me give him a quarter. He still gets a total kick out of it to this day.
Haha! That's a really funny/cute story. Poor 3rd grade Lucky.
That sounds like the worst punishment EVER.
I'm actually a lot like you. I was grounded for 6 months once. I served every single day of that sentence. Then the day I got off? I got grounded again for doing something stupid. I had to mow the yard once a week for a summer. Once I had to edge the driveway with hand edgers (torture) as punishment.
When I was 18, I ran up a MASSIVE cell phone bill for several months in a row. So my punishment was that I had to pay the bill. So I did & I kept paying it. To this day, I still pay my mom & I's cell phone bill (at one point it made more sense financially & now it's nice to help my mom out in some way).
I got spanked once when I spit in my dad's face (I still maintain that this was an accident and/or trick of the wind bec I can't imagine willfully doing such a freaking insane thing).
I didn't usually get in trouble. I was pretty much a wet blanket. Most often, I just got the silent treatment from my dad. As a Daddy's girl, that was TORTURE.
My dad also had the habit of getting super mad and coming up with RIDICULOUS punishments.. he would cave after about 48h of my looking sad, though. lol. For instance, when a friend of mine ran into the house when she was being chased by the boys outside, my dad heard her through the phone (when no one was home, no one was allowed inside). My punishment was that I wasn't allowed to speak to anyone. At all. At school, I couldn't even raise my hand. I could only answer a direct question from an authority figure. LOL. And I'll never forget that I was telling my friend about it the next day when we were lined up according to grade before going into school.. and my brother appeared from 2 lines over and yelled at me! That was pretty much the beginning of the end of our relationship. haha
