Lucky you! I never wanted to have a long engagement, but ours ended up being 16 months. Looking back I'm glad we didn't get married before our last year of college. DH is an engineer and lived at the library, so having that be our first year of marriage would have been rough.
We went the other way and got married a year before DH was done. He didn't have a full year left, and it was hard, both of us working and him going to school also, but oh my gosh, only having 5 months to plan the wedding was fantastic. Our option was either that year or the next year and we knew we didn't want to drag out wedding planning that long. We would have done it again in a heartbeat. But Josh also didn't have to study as much as your DH did!
