What is the one thing

you are most looking forward to in your new house?

Re: What is the one thing

  • I am giddy at the thought of having a basement!! No Christmas tree wedged into the hall closet, no tools taking up space in my linen closet....
  • Having a huge, level fenced-in backyard for the little ones and the dog to run and play and for me and DH to enjoy quiet evenings by the fire.
  • SPACE!!!!

...And having a place of our own. We are currently residing with the ILs.

  • A garage!!!!  No more scraping ice and snow off the cars early in the morning before work!  (also the storage space!)

  • Definitely the garage!  We love our deck and yard too, though...

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.

  • Closet space! Our new house has soooo much storage, whereas our old house had one closet (besides the bedroom closets).

Also, I'm REALLY looking forward to each of my boys having their own room so they won't wake each other up at night.

Oh, and our oversized, double, attached garage. We now have a one stall, detached that's barely even big enough for one vehicle.

I guess I'm excited about a lot of things about our new house!

  • A full basement and a detached 3 car garage. After 7 years in a 1 bedroom condo with zero storage. I can't fathom how wonderful it will be.

  • CENTRAL HEAT & AC!!!

We have a wood stove now & wall units.  In a horribly old un-insulated house!

    Have you seen my monkey?
  • A backyard for the dog, a grill on our deck....a kitchen that isn't the size of a closet.

  • We actually have less closet space in our 4-bedroom house than in our 1-bedroom apartment. Go figure.

Let's see-- what do I like best? The amazing kitchen, the garage, the yard, having a back deck, and being able to come home and look at the beautiful house and say "Wow, this is ours."

  • SPACE!  Tons of closets with a basement = one happy girl.

I'm excited to NOT have a basement. My husband just fills them with crap and they have spiders and crickets and they flood!

    The pups!
  • a guest room so overnight visitors don't have to sleep on the couch/air mattress!

  • I cannot pick just one, so it will have to be 2 :) No shared walls and a backyard!

  • Being able to fit a standard-sized couch into the living room, rather than having to settle for a tiny $100 IKEA job that can barely fit one of us at a time, nevermind both of us together. Our current apartment's stairs are so narrow and winding that we couldn't get a regular couch up there.

A minor thing that brought a huge smile to my face was thinking of our Christmas stockings hanging from the fireplace mantle, instead of thumbtacking them to a door frame.

  • That the kids have a playroom upstairs and I will FINALLY, after 7 years, be able to claim the entire downstairs space as my own, grownup area with not a toy or gaming console to be seen anywhere.
  • oh god, what don't we like. I have to say- a backyard. Reminds me of the days I was a kid and had a huge backyard. I can not wait to make it our own and have a vegetable garden too!

  • Moving up...and SPACE!!  The kids will have tons of space to play, and I can have big gardens.  The inside will be spacious too.  Plus, it is new, so we won't have to deal with anyone else's issues!
Anyone can be cool, but awesome takes practice!
  • Its a toss up between the garage (yay for no more shoveling my car out or having people steal my parking space) and the in-unit laundry (no more time in the scary apartment building basement)!
