Displaced Nestie Check-In

Trying to remember to keep this going!

Not too terribly much is new out here. It's a crazy week at work, and I'm sure I'll have a nervous breakdown by Friday. My leg is feeling better. I haven't taken any muscle relaxers in over a week! (But, I'm still on Aleeve and going to physical therapy.) On a sad note, my grandmother passed away on Thursday, and it's been hard to be away from my family. She lives in PA, and since we're still rebuilding savings after the move, we could not afford a plane ticket back east for me. I think that's the worst thing about being "displaced" - we've missed stuff like birthdays and other family occasions because we can't just jump in the car and head to see them for the weekend.

Back to good stuff, we're looking forward to experiencing fall out here; hopefully I'll be healthy enough to do some hiking and things and it seems like there are lots of great festivals coming up!

Hope everyone back in DC and all the other displaced gals are doing well!

Re: Displaced Nestie Check-In

  • cif- well yay for no muscle relaxers! I don't know if it's still this is still the case but United used to be the only airline with an actual discount on bereavement fare tickets. I think they were like 50% off or something. you had to call and talk to an agent i believe but if a discounted ticket would make it so you could go home, it's something to look into.

we're finally having a good weather week in tx. temperatures were not 100 degrees and it even rained twice at my house. the rain is a huge deal since i think we're about 25inches short on rain for the year. H helped me start turning over our garden so I am starting to get my fall veggies planted. I had to promise I wouldn't overdo it though since I'll be massively preggo when all the veggies are coming in.

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma.
