ideas for winter party

So Molly will be 1 on Dec. 29th.  I am trying to figure out if we should have her party before or after Christmas (yes, I know we are a few months out but between photo shoots and teaching I need to get this sorted out and planned asap).  I would like to host her party somewhere warm and cozy but also incorporate winter activities.  I looked into Pando.  Any other ideas?
Owen is 2.5 yrs old and Molly is almost 1!

Re: ideas for winter party

  • Oh!  So, you're not 77 weeks pregnant? ;)

How big is the party, and what age range are you looking to entertain?

  • Robinettes has a room that you can rent.http://robinettes.com/index.php/room_rental/  they also have cross country skiing.

If you end up forgoring the idea of winter activities and want just a room, I was on Ucello's website for something the other day and noticed they have a rental room with a fireplace. It looked like a nice room. I can't remember which location it was though?

Are you a GVSU grad? They have a smaller room in their alumni house, but it might be too small.

I like the Robinette idea. Depending on what room room you are talking about at the Alumni house?

  • Ice skating might be fun, depending on the crowd.

  • 77 weeks pregnant! lol Can you imagine?  This is for a 1 year old's party but the children's ages will range from 1-5.  We actually held our rehearsal dinner at Uchello's fireplace room and it was nice but i want a larger area for kids to run and play.  I am headed to a bday party at Robinette's in a few weeks and will check that out.  ANy other ideas?  Thanks!

  • A lot of the ideas are weather dependent.

The winter ideas I have would need a bigger budget (sleigh ride somewhere - I know Meijer Gardens does them but they're $$).

A neighborhood hill sledding party would be fun for that age.  And then back to your house for hot chocolate, lunch, and b-day cake?

Pando might be better for a few years from now.  We took our nephews when they were 4 and 7.  The 4 year old was done after one run.  Frown.

I'm trying to think of events that happen during winter that you could coincide with, but my brain is not allowing itself to consider winter.

  • Which area of town do you live in?  Have you ever been to Blandford Nature Center?  They have a few rooms they rent out.  That might be cozy for the winter.

I'm actually looking into it for Henry's party.  We love it there.

  • This isn't really "winter-y" but the zoo does birthday parties all year. They bring in animals for the kids to learn about & pet. :o)

They do?  At the zoo all year?  I was going to suggest the zoo, but because they're closed for the winter, I didn't think they did parties then.

Yep, all year round. In the winter they bring in an extra animal since you can't go explore the zoo. I was looking into it for Bri's party but I think this year we're going to one of the bounce places.
