BW Girls: Clothing Sizing

Ladies, wondering about clothing sizing.  I need to know if what I'm seeing is a function of Jane's height, or clothes shrinking, or if the fit is the same on everyone....

Jane has a bunch of leggings from Carters and Gap Kids - she wears both with shirts.  The Carters shirts are more like tunics and they are fine.  But, anything that is a proper shirt shirt is SO short.  Like, barely covers her belly and you can definitely see her whole diaper (which isn't a great look in leggings, lol).  Is this how it is on everyone?  I know I'D like my tush covered in leggings, lol.

In all seriousness the shirts are fine when we get them and then shrink.  They still fit her but seem really short.  They are 2T, sizing up would be 3T which swim on her.

Re: BW Girls: Clothing Sizing

  • Girls clothing sizes have me seriously confused. Tessa is all over the place with the sizes and it's frustrating. It's so much easier to dress a boy lol. So, today she is wearing sweats and a long sleeve shirt that's a little too big on her.

I have had issues with Children's Place shirts, she is only just now getting into most 6-9 month clothing, but their 12 months sized shirts are too small on her. I don't get it. Carter's seems to be the best working brand for us so far.

  • Ugh I have similar issues with boys clothing. No help to you, but I just need a place to vent.

Zac's 18-24 months jeans (for example) are too small. But if I go buy 2T jeans the things are freaking huge! There's like 10 extra inches on the legs, causing in the roll-up (which I am not a huge fan of). Yes, my kid is short and fat, but I like him that way .... I do not like how that makes clothes shopping for me.

  • I am having issues with clothing lately. I am used to her growing so fast, but somewhere she went from being super long to average length. So her whole summer wardrobe was off since I was expecting her to be longer than she was. Now she is close to being out of the 12M clothing, but still fits great in it, so I have a mixture of fit great and too large. I really wonder if her summer clothing will fit her next year since some of it is large. I just wish it was easy to try clothing on her in the store.
  • I can't figure out clothes for Alex. She has some 24m that she can still fit into, and some 4T that are too tight. How is that possible? Most of her shirts don't go much further than the waist line, so I just assume it's because the girl has a belly, but maybe it is like that for others too, like Jane. Sadly for Alex, pants are a huge issue, she has some major thighs, a CD bum and little legs. Not a good combo when it comes to clothes. Today she's actually in a pair of pants that rolls to be capris with the button. However, when rolled they become pants that don't trip her, not capris.
  • Jane has a belly, but not bad.  She does thought have some serrrrious thighs.  I just checked Carter's site again at the sizing and it says:

    Size detailHeightWeight
    2T34.5 ? 36.5 in29 ? 31 lb
    3T36.5 ? 38.5 in
    31 ? 34 lb

So, she's right in 2T now - - meaning I guess I should be buying 3T so she has room to grow?  GAH! How is my 16 mo old in 3T?!  She's 34-something inches tall and 28 or so lbs.  It would seem 2T is OK, only, it's far too short (shirts).

  • I dont buy shirts from CP cause they are so short!  They shrink right up!  I also hate when the girls bellies are just about hanging out.  I just try to find shirts that are longer and hit below the hips.

Abby is inbetween a 2T and 3T.  2T is too short, but 3T is too loose in the waist.  So tough right now.  We get her 3T shirts though.
