WWYD?

Ok, I know I've mentioned having shipping issues in the past, so hopefully some of you will know where I'm coming from.  I have a package coming from VS that is being delivered by USPS (dammit!).  From the beginning, the expected delivery date was listed as the 19th, yesterday, so yesterday I left work semi-early to get there around the time the mail person comes.  Since we've had packages stolen on multiple occasions, I didn't want it sitting there very long if at all.

Well, it didn't come.  The tracking info updated today and it says it's out for delivery now, but has an expected delivery date for tomorrow.  I'm confused because generally if it's out for delivery, it gets delivered the same day.  Part of me wants to leave a little early today, but I will feel like a moron if the package doesn't come today (especially since I left an hour early yesterday).  If I leave at my normal time, it will sit on my doorstep 1-2 hours if it gets delivered.  So should I just hope that if it comes today, no one steals it?  Go home an hour early just in case, knowing that it might not come and I might go through this all over again tomorrow?

Does this even make sense?  I have a super flexible schedule but I just feel bad about leaving early two (maybe three!) days in a row.

Re: WWYD?

  • is there a way to have things delivered to your work in the future ??? or maybe they can leave your packages with a neighbor ???

or set up a P.O box then you could pick them up at your convince and wouldn't have to worry about theft

  • I can't have things delivered to work, and it would be inconvenient anyway because then I would have to take them home on the train.  My neighbors are most likely the people stealing my packages, since they are being left in a locked building.  I could do a P.O. Box, but it's really not that convenient since the P.O. has horrible hours and I think it's silly to pay money for a P.O. box.  Honestly, I'm just trying to avoid ordering from places that use USPS - FedEx and UPS leave packages in the leasing center, where they are safe.

I think I might start getting packages delivered to DH's work, if it's ok with him.

  • Update: Package was in front of my door when I got home, all that fuss was for nothing.  And I effing LOVE my new bras.  Jeff told me that I can start having packages delivered to his work, but it's a temporary solution considering he'll be working in my building in a few months.

  • We used to have this problem when we lived in the apt. I taped a note to the door to leave all packages at the rental office, which they did. I actually had the opposite problem. All USPS packages got left there anyway since our mailbox was there. The UPS and FedEx packages would get left at our door.

I did tape up a note, and USPS ignored it, so after several months I just took it down.  VERY rarely FedEx or UPS used to leave packages at our door, but only if they had a package for one of the other 5 apartments AND that person happened to be home to let them in the building.  Once I put up the note, FedEx and UPS stopped doing that altogether, but the mail person is just too effing lazy I guess.
