Hey! So I made last-minute plans to go to Chicago this weekend, mostly visiting a close friend. I'm trying to make dinner plans for Friday night; do you have any good restaurant reccs? I used to go to Chicago a lot but haven't been in over 2 years now, so I feel a bit of the loop. We are looking for something with a fun & trendy atmosphere, but also good food obviously. The only thing I can come up with off the top of my head is SushiSamba. I'd like to try somewhere new, but a place with a vibe similar to SS would be nice.
Thanks!!
Re: ***neptoon***
Chicago has amazing restaurants! Carnivale is good, but it's not one of my favorites. I tend to think that the atmosphere is better than the food. I loved Girl and the Goat (West Loop), but you may have trouble getting a reservation. When we went, we just went late (around 9:00) and we had no trouble getting a table. Le Collonial (Gold Coast) is great (Vientamese and French). Graham Elliot (River North) has an AMAZING tasting menu, but it's quite pricey. Longman and Eagle (Logan Square) has a wonderful hipster/tavern vibe, amazing food, and is quite reasonable. Feast (Bucktown) is one of my go tos for a great meal. They don't change their menu that often but the food is always delish. Takashi (Bucktown) also has amazing food and a great small restaurant atmosphere.
Also, if you're looking for a posh drink spot, I highly recommend Violet Hour (Wicker Park). You will probably have to wait, but you can give them a cell phone and they'll call you when a table is ready.
I'm sure you guys have a packed weekend, but let me know if you're up for meeting for a drink.
Thanks! I keep hearing great things about Girl & the Goat. There is, like, NO availability on Opentable though :-( Sad! I will definitely make that happen next time I'm in town with more notice, though. And Le Colonial has also been recommended to me by various people over the years too. Actually, all of the options sound awesome, thanks for the recommendations!
As a matter of fact, I just might have time for a quick drink or two on Saturday night! H will probably still be with work people and my friend has a party to go to. She invited me to come with her, but I'm thinking of sitting it out. Do you think you might be free around 8 or 9 on Saturday night?
