Hello ladies:
I just found out that I am preggers. Please recommend your OB/Gyn/midwife.
I have no idea where to even start looking?
HELP please.
Re: Recommend your ob/gyn
Would you prefer a male or female?
Do you have a preference on area of town or hospital affiliation?
I see Dr. William Kuyper at Mid City OB/GYN. He's great! I've been going to him since I moved to Omaha 9 years ago. The office is located at 72nd and Center and he delivers at Bergan. The practice used to go to Methodist (where DS was born) but will not deliver at the new Methodist Women's hospital.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
I don't care if the Doc is male/female.
And I don't really care where I deliver either. I want to deliver at a place that would allow me to labor in a shower/bath (though I don't want a water birth), because water always feels good to me. A place that has squat bars uses stability balls would also be great. I've always been able to find relief in using these tools for discomfort I've had. So I guess those things are important to me.
The Women's Hospital has quite a few L&D rooms with jacuzzi tubs -- just have to request one. I don't know about the Alegent Hospitals as I delivered at Methodist and the Women's Hospital.
I've heard great things about Dr. Somer-Shely and Dr. Jacobi with the Women's Center at the Women's Hospital. I saw the midwifes there with my first pregnancy and L&D and they were spectacular. I'd go with them if I could -- amazing!

Congrats! Dr Jacobi at the Women's center is awesome! Highly recommend her.
Congrats!!! I also see Dr. Talaska! She is awesome. She is going on Maternity leave however in the next month as she is having her first child, but I've been assured that any one of the dr's in her office are just as great as she is. She offices out of the 81st and Center office as well as Lakeside on Fridays. Don't know about the requests, but you can always check with Bergan and Lakeside to see if they offer those.
Ditto Dr. Cote --- and they do have the items you're requesting available.... you just have to ask them. Especially when it comes to the tub in the room because not all of the rooms have tubs.

Another Dr. Cote suggestion. I've moved twice since I had him at a doctor and I've yet to find a doctor that can even hold a candle to him. He delievered my twins and was such a blessing during my high-risk pregnancy.
I miss him.
I see Dr. Stephen Kruszka. His office is in the Bergan Mercy professional building, and that's where he delivers. He is AMAZING! He is very laid back and listens to you, but if you something is going on, he's very thorough and makes sure that you and baby are both safe. He will let you labor AND push however you want. He told me once "It's like I'm the lifeguard and you're swimming. I'm just there to make sure you're okay, and if you get into trouble, I'll jump in and save you." I know it's a weird analogy, but that describes him perfectly. I know a couple other girls on here see him.
Bergan Mercy doesn't have tubs, but will let you labor in the shower. I couldn't because I was on pitocin (boo!), but the 45 minutes they let me off the pit and off monitoring, it was amazing.
His number is 402-391-5022.

Hi! Congrats on your little addition!
I see Dr. Franklin Devries at Omaha Obgyn. He has an office on Farnam by the med center and another office at Lakeside Hospital.
He has been my dr. for 3 of my 4 kiddos. He is laid-back but proactive. I've enjoyed his bedside manner very much.
402-552-2700 is the number
I'll tell you...I had a situation years ago in which I almost died due to an un-diagnosed condition, and because of my complicated history, I was told it would be best to keep all of the teams of doctors at the hospital where I'd been when it happened. That being said, I STILL go to my OB/GYN at another hospital, despite all of that, which is a big deal. That's how awesome she is. She is an NP, Wendy Salado. She's with Omaha OB/GYN. They have an office at the Med Center, and at Lakeside. She works under Dr. Collins, who is also amazing.
I did go to Kristi NewMeyer at Creighton for a short time during my whole fiasco, and while she, as well as her nurse, were AMAZING, the clinic was always hours behind, and it was a PITA to get in when I needed to. I decided to go back to my original OB/GYN at the Med Center.
Good luck!

I second Dr. Carlson. He is a great doctor and all around nice guy. I was recommended to him from a friend, and have since recommended several others to him.
I have seen the Methodist Midwives with all 3 of my kids and love them!
Love them too! Saw Marilyn Lowe primarily, but you get to see them all at least one visit so you know them in case your main one is on vacation or something when you deliver. Dr Martin is who actual 'delivered' my boys as I had 2 c-sections, but still saw the midwives for every visit and follow-up as well.
DITTO! Love them both!!! Collins will also deliver anywhere.
