OU/Texas Questions

We got tickets to the OU/Texas game. We've never been before so we feel a little clueless.

Our hotel is about 20 minutes away from the stadium. Any suggestions about getting to the stadium? Where to (or not to) park? I've heard of people paying to park and then being towed because the person they paid didn't even own the property they parked on. Any way to know for sure if the parking places are legit?

We got student tickets. Does anyone know if the student tickets are general admission? How early should we get there?

Is the Texas State Fair worth going to?

Re: OU/Texas Questions

  • I would get there early to be safe--leave a few hours before the game.

As far as parking, we just find a place. There's a neighborhood on the east side of the fair we generally park at, and we've had no problems there. Last year we parked in a lot on the east side, but we didn't go on OU/TX game. So that might fill up quick. Not sure how to tell if it's legit in a neighborhood..?

When I was a student, they were not GA. Not sure if that has changed.

Yes, love the Texas State Fair! It's great, and I'm sad we won't be down there this year!

  • The Texas State Fair is the largest state fair in the country - not surprisingly, it is the largest revenue-generating Fair in the country as well.  It is certainly different than our state fair - but it is just a state fair.  Good for people watching.

As far as the game - you may see if the DART goes near your hotel, if so, I would take the DART.  The gates at the fair open at 8am and we are usually there right when the gates open. You shouldn't have a problem getting on the DART then. You might get on CL or an ou chat board and see if someone will sell you their parking permit, that is how we usually park.

Regardless of what time you leave, it will be a cluster to get there. It is the best madness ever.  Have so much fun!

  • Thanks girls! I'll keep all this in mind!
