What's everyone reading right now? What's up next on your list?
Now- "Then Came You" by Jennifer Weiner. I should have it finished shortly. I like the story and the premise, but I think it could have been better written. It seems like as soon as you get into one character's story, you don't hear about her for what seems like a long time and when she comes back, there are lots of gaps between what happened and what is happening. I also think some of the characters have stories deep enough to warrant a whole book dedicated just to them. Sorry if this is confusing- those who read the book may understand what I am talking about!
Next- "The Paris Wife."
Re: Speaking of books
I just finished "Major Pettigrew's Last Stand" (Helen Simonson). Overall, it was a really cute story (could have benefitted from a little editing in some spots where things got a little boring) about a traditional Englishman who develops a friendship with a Pakistani woman in his small town and everything that happens as a result of that.
Just started "The Last Letter from Your Lover," which was recommended to me based on recent purchases for my Nook. I'm about 30 pages in and the story hooked me already. It's a relationship drama that goes back and forth between present day and 40 years ago.
I am reading House Rules by Jodi Picoult - so far so good. about a boy with Asperger's syndrome who becomes accused of a murder due to his fascination with forensics.
Going to book club on Friday to discuss Room by Emma Donoghue - AWESOME book....told from the perspective of a 5-yr-old boy held captive with his mother in a 10x10 room
I have Shutter Island up next hopefully for Halloween. curious to compare this one to the movie.
and somewhere in between I have a bunch of nerdy psychology books
I just finished The Lincoln Lawyer, which I really enjoyed.
Still working my way through the True Blood series as well.
I am getting to the end of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. As others have said, the beginning drags and all the details make your head spin. But I am really into it now and am curious to see how it ends
Next up is Mockingjay, which I am so excited to read!
DS 3.12.08
DD 7.11.09
DD 8.01.13
Jonathan Dean 4.5.08
Anna Capri 5.4.11
I finished Then Came You last night... I liked the book but wasn't a fan of the ending.
Not sure what is next. I have to decide at bedtime haha
I just finished Then Came You last week- I completely understand what pp meant about the story flipping around a lot and the large gaps of time. I didn't love it, but it was OK. I, too, was disappointed by the ending. I did like it better than her past couple, though.
My sister and I were supposed to trade Kindles last week so that I could read her copy of Emily Giffin's latest...but she had something come up and we haven't traded yet, so today on the train I started re-reading Jennifer Weiner's "Goodnight Nobody", which I know I really liked, but read so long ago I don't remember it too well.
i finished 19 minutes by Jodi Picoult which was great, and i started House Rules, but i don't know if i can finish it. I realized that i'm not a big Picoult fan.
Right now i'm reading Push Has Come to Shove by Steve Perry which is excellent
just finished History of a suicide, which was a memoir of a 21 year old girl (sister of the autor)...not what i usually read but good.
I am on my 5th sookie book, but listening to the audio books on my ipod.
i just started Risk, by Colin Harrison which is awesome. one of my fav authors if you like mystery
I just finished Mockinjay which was the last book in the trilogy and didn't think it was as good as the other two, but loved, loved, loved Hunger Games and the Girl on Fire.
Next- Room which I think someone else mentioned. It received mixed reviews in my office but am definitely curious.
