POLL: Vanity Plates (car)

How do you feel about them?

Trickey's comment on the bumper sticker post made me think of these... while I can't stand bumper stickers, I do love trying to decode vanity plates. I would never have them myself, but some of them make you laugh/wonder!

Re: POLL: Vanity Plates (car)

  • You have to wonder if folks with vanity plates get tailgated a lot more than regular people, what with others trying to figure out what they say and all.

We don't have them, but my mom has one on order that says her grandma name ("Mimzy").   I think it's cute.

  • I had one in college- AST TCO. My sorority and our secret saying.

    Haven't had one since.

  • I like to figure out what they'd say.  I also wonder what I would put on my plate.   My mom had MRB ### on her plate, which are her initials.  However, everyone who saw the plate assumed it was my Dad's name, Mr. B.    Mom joked that she should have gotten Mom's taxi.

  • I <3 vanity plates.

My Aunt and I email frequently back and forth in the mornings like, "I saw this XXXXX, what does it mean?"

I've had a few vanity plates in my day

    "TRICKEY"
    "2TRICKY"
    "ATRICKY"

  • I don't mind them, but have never had one. The best I ever saw was a conservation plate, which in NH has a big moose on the left then the letters KNCKLE. It still makes me laugh and I saw it years ago.

I hate the ones that just say the type of car, like PTCRZN on a PT Cruiser, or something like that. Unless it was this one Kia with a plate MYPRCHE. I'm on the highway a lot and see many of these

  • I also try to read them.  Anyone remember I84RE from BH 90210?

Anyway, we don't have them.  They are big in RI where my sister lives and she and her ILs all have them.  Her FIL's old beater SUV truck they used in the Summers for fishing stuff was TUNA, which I thought was kind of awesome.  My sister is ANNIES which has to do with her business Annie's Escapes.

Now that I think about it my Aunt has had her initials for as long as I can remember and I can always tell when I see her driving around town, lol :)

  • If this is referring to a personalized plate, I have nothing against them. I don't like it, though, when women have their name somehow on the plate. I think it's dangerous.

    I also don't have one.

I do, however, have a chrome Michigan State alumni frame for my plate. DH got it for me for my birthday this year. Love it.

  • I love them and I have one. I use to have a 2 hr each way commute and saw tons of them. I have a little book where I would write them down. My favorite is when the license plate frame goes with the plate, and you need both to figure it out.

My fave plate is: HTHTPPR    It was on a Porsche Cayenne.
