wine on the carpet

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get red wine out of a white carpet? This happened the other night and I got most of it up by dabbing at it with a cloth and then covering it with white vinegar and then detergent (I read this online).

When I was done it looked clean  but now that it has dried I can still see a little discoloration where it was. I know since it's dry I am probably out of luck but just wondering if anyone knows any amazing little secret!

We have a carpet steamer so I am going to try that eventually but that will involve moving furniture so it will have to wait until at least tonight....

Thanks!!

Re: wine on the carpet

  • Oxy Clean?

It got some pretty ugly stains out back when I had carpet.

  • Try a spot remover. Or you can call a professional-usually if it's for just a spot cleaning they charge a very reasonable price.

If you do both of those and it keeps reappearing-the stain may be in the pad. If that's the case, you'll need to pull up the carpet and replace that spot in the pad-then re stretch the carpet back onto the tack strip.
