Tab renewal question

I can't find the answer on the stupid state website. I got a postcard in the mail sometime in the past month (I think) that my tabs need to get renewed AND I have to get an emissions test this year. Well, can't find that stupid postcard, it got lost in the move.

I thought you need that postcard thing to get the emissions report...or to go in to an office? Obviously don't have it to mail. So what do I do?

you don't need anything to get your emissions test, you don't need anything to renew your tabs (just your license plate number and ID).

this and some munies. you'll need munies to pay for the test.

oh and it's been a while, but I don't think you need your ID for the emissions test, just to actually get your tabs.

and yes, UW is right. no ID for emissions...anybody can take your car into emissions. to pay for tabs, you have to be the registered owner or something. they never used to let me pay tabs (in person) because the car is registered under my mother (different last name).

oh and if you don't want to donate the $5 to state parks you have to tell them as soon as you get to the window or else they'll charge you for it and they can't just refund you the $5. The process for getting the $5 is a PITA.

Thanks Lovely Ladies! Luckily, there's an emissions place seriously less than 6 blocks from my office, so I'll do that tomorrow! I would do it today but I just invited my cousin to come down for lunch because I've gotten into this funny habit where if I haven't seen her for 6 days, I miss her.

I've been dealing with this all week! Argh!

Once you get your emissions test you can go online and order them or mail in your payment. They (the DOL) has your emission stuff on file as soon as you finish at the place. A lot of those DOL places close promptly at 5, fyi. Some are open on the last Saturday of the month too.

oh! oh! i have another question to piggy back.

my check engine light is on........h has heard that you can't pass emissions with it on. is this true? i've never heard of it before.
