AW: State Test Scores

Our state test scores from last spring are official. In ELA, 67% of my 5th graders scored proficient or advanced! I realize to people in other states, that may not seem so great, but considering they were 50% proficient in 4th grade, I'll take the 17% increase. Also, our previous year's 5th graders were at 56% proficient, so we improved our grade-level scores by 11% as well.

The state was also at 67% for 5th grade ELA, so although I'd love it if we were above the state average, I'm thrilled with the improvements my students made. This year I'm hoping to get that number above 70%!

ETA: We're a charter school and I just looked up the scores for our local district that we pull from. Their 5th graders were at 45% proficient, so our scores are significantly higher than theirs. That makes me happy because they bad mouth us like it's their job. :)
