i can already feel the sadness of missing stabler 
was the last season finale the one where stabler shot the girl b/c she shot the people in the holding cell?

Well, tonight is the season premiere, so I am SO! EXCITED!
I have heard that they are really going to let the loss of Stabler play out over the first few episodes and that Olivia is going to be very affected by his leaving. And it sounds like Warren Leight, who is the new showrunner, is really respecting the relationship she had with Elliot (he even called it "unrequited love" in an interview) and letting the loss of that relationship play out throughout the beginning of the season.
I have been reading a ton of articles, and the basic gist of them all is this:
Mariska Hargitay is going to be in all episodes.
Ice-T is going to be in all episodes.
Dann Florek (Capt. Cragen) will be more present this year.
Richard Belzer (Munch) and Tamara Tunie (M.E. Warner) will both be in some episodes.
Kelli Giddish (one of the new cops...Amanda Rollins) will be in all episodes, and Danny Pino (the other new cop...Nick Amaro) will be in all but the first episode.
Stephanie March (ADA Cabot) and Diane Neal (ADA Novak) will be splitting times as ADAs. Linus Roach (who was in the original L&O, aka "The Mothership") will be the bureau chief for the ADAs (I believe).
There will be more courtroom stuff this year, as well as more about the motivation of the criminals (borrowing elements from The Mothership and L&O:CI).
There will be some "ripped from the headlines" stuff.
