Military pay and retirement....?
H believes that if his home of record is Nevada (which has no state income tax) when he retires he won't have to pay state income taxes, no matter where we live....
Does anyone know if that's true?
Or is it just true if we retire to a state without income tax?

Re: Military pay and retirement....?
I wouldn't. And you do have to have some tie to the state you claim as your HoR, of course. However, KN, that only applies to you guys while YH is AD. Once he retires, he doesn't have an HoR. Well, he does. But it's his home. That he lives in. Of record.
That's what I thought.
Thank you for backing me up. :P
If you move to Nevada, then you won't have to pay state income tax:-)
Does anyone know if that's true? False
Or is it just true if we retire to a state without income tax? True
As far as I know, the only thing that "home of record" really and truly affects is where the military will move you to when he gets out. I'm open to being wrong, but I don't think that it affects anything else.
