Something Morrigan said in the "Cheap Friend" post got me thinking. DH and I almost never carry cash, we use our debit card for everything. As you know, we are currently living with my parents.....my Dad freaks that we don't carry cash "because you never know what might happen." We have a stash of cash in the house, we just don't carry with use. I'm wondering if this is a generation thing or what. Sooooo............

Re: Carrying Cash
My boring blog
I have to think about. I've gotten in the habit of getting an exta $20 cash back from the gorcery store or gas station on Sunday's to get me through the week. I like to keep cash on me in case of an emergency. I also keep $20 hidden throughout my car for the same reason.
H always carries cash- so I can usually bum some from him.

I rarely/never carry cash unless I'm planning to go garage saling.
I feel like an idiot at the grocery store if I have to pay with cash. Because I feel like I can't count it out properly. I am just so used to having my debit card that cash seems foreign to me. It's terrible, I know.
My mother taught me that only strippers carry cash.
Not really, but I still never have it with me. I'm more likely to spend it and I don't know why. I think I have a mental block that it's already checked out of my account so it's free money to spend. We both have a problem with thinking like this so we don't carry it.
Hmm...I wonder if that's why I get dirty looks when paying for my groceries with my tip money? ;-)
I've always wanted to pull out like wads of ones to pay for something. If I'm going to be a stripper, I'm going to be a good one.
I guess if I was really good I would have more than ones.
Of course. You have to be a good stripper and make more then just the dollar bills, throw in some 5's and if you're lucky some 10's too. I strive to be like Tina Fey in Date Night when they go undercover.

Same here. My grandparents always say we should have cash on hand, but if I have cash I'm more likely to spend it since it's already been deducted from my checkbook...whereas with debit, I'll see the balance in our account going down "differently" and won't spend as easily.
