Orchard/pumpkin patch recs in southern ME?
Hello ladies,
I've used the nest before as a resource, but I'm not really a poster, so 1st: hello!
2nd) I have 2 kids, 2-yr old DD and 2 month old DS. I was wondering where you all like to go (in southern maine, I'm in Portland) for apple picking, pumpkin patch type activities? We've been to a place in Alfred in year's past, but I was looking for something with maybe a hay ride or kid/family activities?
Any suggestions? TIA!

I live near the two orchards in Alfred/Lyman and you're right that they are pretty basic. Although one is having an Apple Festival this weekend which is low-key but pretty fun: http://www.shakerhillapplefestival.org
We really like McDougal Orchard in Springvale. Delicious apple cider dounts and other fun stuff!
Our favorite pumpkin patch is Pumpkin Valley Farm in Dayton. They have kids activities, hay ride, corn maze, etc. Really fun!
We go to McDougal's in Springvale because it's close to where we live. On the weekends they have hay rides and fresh apple cider doughnuts. They also have a few farm animals the kids can look at and a couple of cut-outs for cute pictures. It's a very family friendly place.
