Kids & Christmas?? Early....I know
How do you divide up santa gifts vs. gifts from mom & dad? Last year we did a few gifts from us and a TON of stuff from Santa. I am thinking that we should switch it up from now on. One main gift from santa and then the stocking and everything else from mom and dad?
What do you do? I am pretty much done shopping for C from us. I have nothing from Santa yet.

love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
So, you grew up thinking that your parents didn't buy you anything for Christmas?
It sounds weird but I guess growing up I never thought of it that way. Maybe because we were just used to it. You find out who Santa is at a younger age so it wasn't like I was in high school thinking my parents didn't buy me anything.
We usually just do one or or two 'big' item gifts from Santa and if there are 'accessories' to go with that gift(s) and a few little stocking stuffers, and then just a few gifts from us.
This made me LOL.
We, as well, do one big gift and the stocking from Santa and the rest from us.
We kind of just do whatever. I will randomly pick things from us and from Santa, so it may end up being half and half or something.
We got into a big debate with DH's cousin because she said all gifts were from Santa. So, she never got any gifts from her parents, they were all just Santa gifts. So, she thought Christmas here was weird, and said that everyone she knows does it that way.
This is how we do it too. The big gift from Santa is in DS' Santa Bag (from Pottery Barn & embroidered with DS' name), so it is unwrapped but in the big bag.
Growing up...even after knowing who Santa was, we would get main gifts from Santa. I think it was a decent half/half.
With the kids right now, DH prefers to have most of the gifts come from Santa and stocking stuffers and then 1 big gift from us and maybe a small gift
We will still keep this format going forward but we have already decided that this year, S-man will only get a few gifts. He doesn't get it exactly so no need to spend a ton.
My big concern right now that the kids will have to adjust to is as they get older, the type of gifts for them will not be as fun as S-man's but there is a 10 year difference on the ages.
I had totally forgot that I bought one of these last year!
Growing up, it was probably half and half - all my gifts from Santa were in special paper... Some of my stocking stuff was from Santa, some from parents. My mom still writes Santa on 90% of her gifts!
I think we will do one big gift that's assembled and stockings from Santa, and then everything else from us. And if my mom gets something she wants to be from Santa, she said she'll send it unwrapped so we can wrap it in "Santa's paper".

Santa brings 1 thing (usually the big gift) and stocking stuff.
We get them 1 thing and they get 1 thing from their siblings (a joint gift.)
