Re: Anyone else see this?

  • While I don't think anything is wrong with doing documentaries on military life/wives. I have a feeling this is going to spread more ill-conceived notions about the 'typical' military wife.

  • This may be flameworthy but I considered applying a while back but I don't think J would be down with it. The unsung heroes part is annoying but I know I could provide some entertainment with my ridiculous life.

I don't think it's flameworthy at all, along with KC's post. I just hate how usually things like that are super cheesy. I almost applied to the homecoming ones on Lifetime and TLC, but H wasn't on board. Understandable.

Our FRO emailed everyone about it. H forwarded it to me. lol

Our FRO sent that to us too.

  • It would be hilarious if we were the wives selected! LOL. Everyone would be on here every week going, "B is OBNOXIOUS" like we talk about Farrah.

    ETA: B is me, btw.

I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

This actually made me LOL. I could see it now.

  • I'm curious what the point of this show is. I mean Army Wives is so realistic why does American pop culture need a documentary/reality show? ;)

Is that the equivalent of a Key Spouse in the AF? Is it per unit (I don't know what other branches call them. Squadrons for us.)

Army has an FRG.. is that similar? Or is that more of an Enlisted Spouse Club, or does every branch have one of those too?

Sorry so many questions, I'm just really curious.

  • For the Army, FRG is the commanders chain of information. There are separate spouses groups for socializing. The FRG includes all soldiers, spouses, family members, DA civilians and volunteers. The primary goal is to support the commanding officer and to get information out to the families, especially during deployments. They are usually organized at the company and battalion levels. Hope that helps :)

Can you imagine if we got selected? Oh my God. LOL

It could be my launch vehicle to PAO!

  • Ahh got it. Thanks! Is there one FRO per base or per squadron?

There's one for each unit, then one for each group, and then one that oversees all of the base.

This assignment is like a bastardchild and is fairly small. All of the other bastardchildren/small units all get lumped together and we have one FRO. It makes financial sense but none of these units have anything in common which I find hilarious, especially at family days.

KC and Stan, I think you should apply for this awesome opportunity! Hehehe

  • I have not seen that yet.  Hum...because we all know "reality" tv is totally real.  I mean look at the Real Housewives!!! I do however still watch that crap.
