Re: Am I missing anything?

  • Music choices for reception?

  • This may be my anal retentiveness coming out, but I made a list of the vendors and their contact info to go along with the wedding day timeline. That way if something was late, messed up etc I would be able to get help handling it from someone else in the wedding.

I did this too.  I gave it to both sets of parents.  I also made a list of the cell numbers for every member of the BP and gave those to the parents and MOH/BM.

  • did you arrange for food for the day of while you are getting ready? bathroom baskets (if you are doing them, they aren't necessary)?

I gave all of my vendors my MOH's phone number in advance (after asking her) so that they could call her the day of and not me.  If anything was wrong I didn't want to know about it

do you have your marriage certificate?

  • Are you having a guest book?  What about cake topper, cake cutting set and toasting flutes?  Are you changing into a comfortable shoe at the reception?  What make up or personal items will you need with you that day?

With regard to food for preps, I ordered a breakfast and fruit tray from Corner Bakery and had it delivered to where we were all getting our hair and makeup done. Don't forget juice, coffee and tea.

Parents gifts-  I got all of the parents a hanky from Finesee Embroidery.  http://www.finesseembroidery.com/ .

You can also do a weekend get away, dinner and a movie package, theater or show tickets- anything that suits their tastes.

  • Also give some thought to any "must take" family pictures on the day of the wedding.  That way if you need certain people to not bolt out the door immediately following the service, you can let them know in advance to stay put for 15 minutes. You don't want to drive the photographer crazy and waste time while you are looking for Uncle Bob who is outside on his cell phone, so thinking about this in advance will definetly make things easier for everyone involved.

Also, what about vendor meals?  You should let your vendors know what you are doing prior to the big day so they know what to expect.  Also bring some cash with you for tips if needed for the limo driver, etc.

  • are you doing a send off (bubbles etc)?

choose who is walking together, seating grandparents, etc

if you are doing readings, you need to pick those

let anyone you want to do a toast/blessing know so they are ready

are you doing a cake for the rehearsal dinner?

agree with the must take list... extra note- if your parents are divorced make sure the photogs know there are more than two family  tables... we have NO pictures of my dad's table!

    did you pick seating music?

if you are going anywhere for pics make sure your photog knows. they may need permits

I'm trying to think of what I forgot/wish I had known! haha

  • I think you are in very good shape! I will leave you with the best two tips I got for my wedding...

    1. Have someone that works at the venue come find you and let you know when you have one hour left of your reception.  You never want to hear "last song" and remember you didn't get to do something, see someone, or take it all in when you had a chance.  We had our planner find us and do this and it was one of my favorite moments of the day.

    2. Pee facing forward.  Sounds crazy but face the toilet, pull your dress up in the front and you won't need 20 people assisting you because you aren't trying to lift your bustle and the dress! It feels a bit odd at first but its a god send when your BMs are all dancing away and you don't want to chase them down.

3... ok I know I said two but oh well. Something WILL go wrong. Who cares? you are married to your best friend and that's what counts... HAVE A GREAT DAY!

  • Along with what Kross said...a list of who is getting tipped, how much, and who will be handing out the envelopes?  I wish I had done this...I had my tip envelopes ready to go....and we forgot everyone's envelope except the trolley driver, who ended up getting tipped by 3 different people.

True story. I actually put the name of the bridal party member and the vendor they would be handling tips for in the wedding timeline and the groomsmen still got it all mixed up and I had a limo driver asking me for a tip on the way into my reception.....yeah, like I have money socked away in my wedding dress?!

  • Wow, I think you are ready!!

Just one thing that I forget, which someone mentioned and you have it done already, is a must take photo list.  I had mine, just forgot it in the car, which was only parked in the back parking lot of the mansion and someone could have easily gone for it, but I was too lazy.

And just one other, Enjoy your day.  Don't sweat the small stuff.  All that matters is you and FI and how happy you'll be.  :)
