That's it. I'm done. Just needed to vent :-/

I have literally come to my breaking point. In the past 24 hours, I have decided:

-I'm quitting my job.. even if I don't have another one to rely on. It's been getting worse and worse. I used to work 6-7 shifts a week. At least two of them were  dinner shifts (better paying than lunch, usually) About 2 months ago, the owner seemed out for my blood and sanity. He cut my shifts down to 4-5, and getting a dinner shift was like a gift. I asked a manager what the deal was, and she said I had gotten complaints. Not from customers, but from some coworkers. She was vague, but something about not bussing the tables quickly enough. That's apparently grounds to cut back shifts. So I worked harder to improve on it.... and got cut down to 3 AM shifts only. Sunday I saw a notice about a mandatory staff meeting on a Saturday that I have my cousin's baby shower. I tried to tell my boss I couldn't be there. He ignored my text and voicemail. When he was in yesterday, I tried to tell him I needed a moment of his time. He snapped at me, told me he couldn't answer my question bc the bank never got back to him (back story on that, there was something weird printed on my check, I called myself and got my answer) and was told to leave him the "f" alone because he was talking to the other waitress.. Who was apparently looking for someone to cover her dinner shift (MY old shift) last night, and she was unsure who to ask. He rattled off X, Y, and Z... with me standing right there. I asked again for a moment of his time, and he told me to not even DREAM about working last night. I'm done! Fine, f you and your whole operation.

-I'm calling a landlord/tenant lawyer. My bugs are back, and I'm fed up. I'm trying to figure out if this warrants a breech of the lease, because it's becoming uninhabitable. I'm waking in the middle of the night crying from anxiety of being bitten. Last night I was, and I've been up since 4 this morning. I actually managed to catch one, because the idiot exterminator doesn't believe us, and tries to tell us that our bites aren't from bedbugs. Well, f'er, here's proof. He's never even looked around the apartment to see if he can find a nest. He doesn't move anything, or do anything more than spray some junk on the perimeter of the rooms. He never treats the wooden floors, the closets, or the electronics. For all I know, there's something living in my laptop that I'm typing on right now. Calling my landlord would prove useless. It was like pulling teeth just to get him to call in this idiot. I was so happy to not get a bite in 2 weeks :(

-I'm selling my SUV. Every month it's something new that needs fixing. Someone knocked in my fog light. There's scratches galore on it. Both front axles were replaced. The alternator was replaced. The battery was replaced. The brakes have been done countless times. The drive shaft was replaced. The rear shocks were replaced. A front ball joint needs replacing. That means wheel alignment. At the last oil change, they discovered that someone put the oil plug back in the pan improperly, and stripped the pan. It has a temporary plug now, but it needs a whole new oil pan. The transmission has been slipping for years, and it finally feels like it's going to go kaput. And the emergency brake is gone. I just can't keep up on repairs. (all of these, except the shocks) have occurred over the past 2.5 years.

  • I'm sooooo sorry you have to deal with all this!  Your boss sounds like a real jerk and I don't blame you for quitting...I'm impressed you made it this long.

Vibes your way for a new and much better job, a bite free night and a good sell on your car!

  • WOW! I hope things change for the better. Your boss seems like a complete jerkoff too. WTF.

  • OMG, I had no idea you have bedbugs.  I'm so sorry!  I hear they're a nightmare to live with.  I hope you can get that matter taken care of with your landlord.  About the job, you're totally right to quit.  Your boss sounds like an a$$.

  • Thanks ladies. I just want to scream at the top of my lungs! I tried calling the jerk again today (boss jerk, not exterminator jerk) and got hung up on. I'm not even going to regive him my last day's notice. I'm just not going to show up when I've decided to stop.. or walk out. Would neither be the first, nor the last, time it's happened.

As for the exterminator, I told J to hold off until the eggs hatch. I want a bunch to show the numbnuts.

  • what a nightmare! i cannot believe your boss. when i worked in the restaurant industry, the lack of professionalism by some of the managers was astounding...but this tops anything i experienced! i really hope the bed bugs and SUV situation work out.
