F&B advice, PIP inside!

so I got these two things (plus some BR 0P grey dress pants for $9.99!  plus 20% for being a student, yay) at Goodwill last night and I'm sort of not sure about them.  Side note: Goodwill has a 1 week return policy, which is awesome (Buffalo Exchange only does store credit btw).

So this is a top/dress thing from F21 (paid $9.99 +20% off).  I tried it here with cropped black leggings... thoughts?  It's totally different from anything I own, but I have no idea how to wear this.  My friend said I was small enough I could maybe get away with it as a dress, but I'm not sure.  Skinny jeans? Leggings? Tights?

then there is this Max Azria top (paid $14.97 +20% off).  I really like the pattern and it's silk (not shiny, sort of a cool texture though), but I don't know if it just doesn't fit right.  Also, it's 100% see-through, lol.  I tried it here with another sheer type top underneath, but I'm just not sure.

Re: F&B advice, PIP inside!

  • Something I've learned over the years, no matter how good of a deal it is, if you don't love it then you probably aren't going to wear it. Clothes that sit in a closet collecting dust aren't a good deal. My rule is I don't buy it unless I love it.

Pants: What are you not sure about? Did I miss the PIP of those?

Long top/dress thing: IMO it's super cute. I'd keep it. But again, don't keep it unless you're actually going to wear it. I'd wear it with black leggings/footless tights and flats. It looks a little short to wear alone as a dress.

MA top: take it back, that does nothing for your tiny little bod. It's like a cotton candy machine ate you alive.

thanks, I knew you would have good advice :)

Pants - didn't PIP because I like them, just wanted to share my good deal!

Dress - I like it, but just wasn't sure how to wear it.  Although the more I walked around in it this morning the more I liked it and felt like it would be a really cute 'going out to a bar' outfit that's different (I usually just wear dark jeans etc).

Top - you're right, that's what I was afraid of.  I just love the pattern, it's so cute, but I agree that it really isn't flattering.

ETA: in case anyone is wondering, by 'walked around in' I mean while I was taking pictures etc, I'm not going to wear it today because I will wash it first.  Just in case anyone was weirded out by that!

I want a PIP of the pants! I want to see the good deal pants! Big Smile

That dress would be perfect for going out. I really love it with the long necklaces that you have on too.

    Really good deals! Party!!!

lol ok, well maybe tonight - I'm already dressed to leave here shortly.  Although slight confession: I really love them, perfect color and fit however I haven't tried them on with shoes yet and I'm really hoping they aren't too short (LOL who would have thought?!).  I normally wear pretty tall heels, but I have a variety of heights so I just need to make sure they go with at least one pair.

ETA: they are longer than my legs, I'm just used to super long pants and then I buy tall heels

This.  Keep dress/top, it's super cute.  Take the shirt back.

  • I also like the long dress/shirt. The second top I don't like at all.

I've been able to find J Crew, BR, and Ann Taylor Loft things at the Value Village in Kirkland. It seems like they carry lots of small sizes.

    good to know!

  • I want to see the pants!

Love the outfit in the top pic! Really cute!

Not a fan of the top, it looks a little big for you.

ok ok, you've all bullied me into it, lol.  I'll take a pic tonight :)

Final verdict: keep the first, return the second.  You guys are great!  But this just means I have an excuse to go back again!

  • Totally chiming in late, but I agree with the pp's! :)  Love the 1st, and while the 2nd is cute, it's not amazing.
  • now I'm all excited and really want to wear that first thing!  also, dress? shirt?  I don't know what to call it, lol

ETA: I have to say, this is one of the nicer F21 things I've seen - lined, invisible zipper and I really soft fabric, almost like a lightweight cotton and then those really cool heavy zippers

  • ugh, sad news.  So I tried the pants on again with heels (wasn't wearing any when I bought them) and showed H... he said they looked too wide for me and yeah, they turned out not to be that flattering.  They fit so well around the waist/hips, but they are wide-leg trouser-type pants that I guess just overwhelm my little legs.  Boo.  Oh well, I love the hunt so I'll just go back again and look for new fun things!
  • i like the blue top, not the polka dot. and the blue one, you could totally wear it as just a dress.
