What's for dinner

I forgot to get something out for dinner, so I need some suggestions.  I can run by the store if necessary.

Re: What's for dinner

  • Tonight we are going to the local street fair for dinner....but I cooked last night! We had a taco/tortilla bake. Brown hamburger with taco seasoning, layer in a pie plate with 4 flour tortillas....I also add cheese and salsa with each layer of hamburger. Bake at 350 for 15 mins. Super easy and very yummy :)

  • Pasta with store bought sauce and mild Italian sausage. Yum. Oh, maybe I need garlic bread, I do like my carbs now.

  • Linsday, that sounds good.  I was thinking tacos maybe, so this could be a big possibility.

  • I'm having left overs :(  Shaun is working so i'm on my own.

    Here's sort of a spin-off of Lindsay's recipe:

I really like it.  I usually add some corn and black or pinto beans to it.

  • Hubby's away tonight for work, so I just had some leftover lentils and pasta that I made the other night.

In a pinch, I love making breakfast for dinner :)  You probably already have everything you need!

  • I made turkey meatball sandwiches- one pckg ground turkey, 1/2 c bread crumbs, 1 tsp poultry seasoning, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, 1 tsp Worchestershire sauce and 1 tsp Dijion mustard. Mix together, then make into 1" meatballs, pan fry on md-high until brown and cover to cook through. Put on steak rolls with marinara and mozzarella cheese and put in the oven just to melt the cheese.

  • Lisa it's funny that you suggested that.  We just had meatball subs earlier this week.  Greg had the last of it today for lunch.

It looks like we are having pizza.  We are trying to clean out the fridge and freezer, so pizza it is.

  • I did barbecue salmon with this bad ass sweet potato recipe.  I thinly sliced about 5 sweet potatoes, dropped 'em in the crock pot, put about 1/2 cup shaved coconut in that SOB, 2 tbsp of melted butter and 2 tbsp of water, sprinkled in some cinnamon and about 2 tbsp of brown sugar and cooked that mo-fo on high for 1.5 hours.  It was awesome.

  • Cindy, I'm sending Greg to your house for dinner.  He would love everything you are having.  I however don't care for salmon or sweet potatoes unfortunately.  I really want to like salmon since it's so good for you, but I just can't do it.  I have tried Greg's several times when he orders it, but I just don't like it.  I think it's because it's too dry for me.

Cindy, I totally can't take how friggin funny you are.  I wish you had a cooking show, because I would love to have heard you say this out loud while demonstrating. LOL

Oh, and that sounds amazing, by the way :)

  • LOL
OMG I don't even know where that came from.  Out of the blue....and yeah could you imagine me explaining that word for word to Gordon Ramsay on HK???

I actually liked it, but Mike didn't care for it all that much.  The salmon didn't fill him up and he said he likes regular potatoes better than sweet potatoes.  I think he would rather have them on the side just plain old baked or boiled rather than in all these fancy recipes I've been trying out.  It's duly noted.  :)  But next time I do salmon maybe I'll make the salmon patties like my mom does because they always fill us up.  I think next time I'll spend the extra money on fresh salmon fillets rather than the frozen ones. There's more to 'em!  These fillets weren't that big and I actually even found a bone in mine!  Boneless?  Yeah, OK...

Salmon is tricky.  I've had it at restaurants where it's totally phenomenal and other times where it's dry as hell.  I made the fillets partially frozen and cooked them for about 25 minutes.  I think they may have been just a little bit undercooked on the real fat fillet - luckily that one was mine and I just ate more sweet potatoes.
